Yeah, the serial # is 92. The gun looks never to have been fired after inspecting the bore. Very happy with it nonetheless and I appreciate the replies!

    CVA Mountaineer sidelock

I'll have to post pics when I finish my shift. The gun is in excellent condition and it is finished beautifully in wood and brass. The lock is good and barrel shines in the land and grooves. Barrel measures 26 inches. Looks a lot like the Frontier pictured. I will post pics when I get off work...

    CVA Mountaineer sidelock

I recently acquired a CVA "Mountaineer" sidelock in a trade. It is a Hawken style rifle, 26" Barrell, 1/48 twist 50 caliber with wood stock. Nice finish with brass trigger guard, single trigger, brass buttplate and made in Spain. Does anyone have any info on about when it was made and if it was...

    50 cal single shot caplock?

The Traditions Trapper has adjustable sights and set trigger. It's a fairly well made pistol. I have one (haven't shot it yet) but am sure that it will be fine. It wont break the bank either as far a cost is concerned and it has a pretty nice finish as well.

    Derringer fun

I have a Pedersoli Philidelphia Derringer that I got for have the price asked on DGW's website. It's a loud little sucker and fun to shoot. Also had a gun like yours and gifted it to a Viet Nam vet.

    Traditions lightening fire sidelock

I recently acquired a Traditions Lightening Fire side lock. It has a single trigger, one in forty eight twist and a nicely done birch stock with a Schnabel fore end. It came with a composite ramrod and appears to not have been fire. I also have a Trapper percussion in fifty caliber and a T/C...

Are guns by investarms any good

Well, Compared to most makes out there, they give up nothing on quality and performance. It's most likely a 1/48 twist and will shoot round balls and maxis just fine. You will have to dial it in for best loads and powder measures that give good accuracy for your intended purposes. You gat a good...

    T/C New Englander

I had a T/C Grey Hawk a few years back and will attest to its ability to take home game. It was a .50 caliber and handled the T/C Maxi Ball hunter with gusto. The Grey Hawk was the stainless version of the New Englander rifle and was a hunters dream in rough weather. I currently have a White...

    Safety Questions For My Muzzleloaders

Take care to properly load your smokepoles, follow the manufacturers recommendations for proper loading, as mentioned by previous remarks in this thread, and ONLY use blackpowder or blackpowder substitutes and make sure your choice of projectile is seated well on the charge, and have a ball...

Traditions 1851 all steel .44 Colt revolver review

As far as tuning my newly acquired Pietta, I took it all apart and detail cleaned all of the preservative off of it and checked all of the lock work for any machine marks and burrs and used some bore butter to lube it up,then worked the action a bit and all is good. Every gun is different I...

Traditions 1851 all steel .44 Colt revolver review

I received my 1851 Colt in all steel from Sportsmans Warehouse last night and have just finished unboxing and cleaning it to get the surface oil off. First impressions: 1.) It's very nicely fitted and blued and the brass is very well done. It kinda sparkles a bit. 2.) The bolt sticks in 2 of...

    1st single shot percussion pistol?

I have a Trapper and have no doubt that if a properly fitted round ball was rendered in this smoke pole that it would no doubt do what was intended with proper use of this hand cannon.

    1858 New Army Revolver

The energy level produced by even the heaviest load in an 1858 ,is at best marginal on deer sized game. It's no mystery that more soldiers went to meet their makers in the Civil War with this revolver. But deer sized game need at least 600 pounds of energy on impact to do the do. I know some...

    TC New Englander .50 cal

Loads I've used were in the Greyhawk made by T/C which essentially was a New Englander in stainless steel with the same 1 in 48" twist and it shot well with 375 grain maxi ball and 90 rains of pyrodex. I know some gents who've done well with deer and 80 grains and roundball. I would err on the...

    Armi San Marco 1860...

I had one a couple of years ago and when I bought the gun I was able to compare it to an original that was in the possesion of a collector/store owner. Of course, his origial Colt showed its age but it was almost identical to the Army San Marco. It was a nice tight pistol and was very attractive.
