    DIY brass wire lanyard loops

As I mentioned in my "first attempt" thread (https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/first-attempt-at-a-set-of-flintlock-tools.185194/), I 've been making large salt water surf fishing lures for 30 years and I used some of those techniques to make the tools. I took that a step further and...

First attempt at a set of flintlock tools

Came out OK Next set will be better Need to make a lanyard for them, my two attempts so far today have been miserable fails. This kind of stuff, the tools, isn't so hard, I have 30 years of making big surf fishing plugs under my belt and the machining techniques are very interchangeable. I have...

    Wheel weight lead question

No need to imagine it, it's been happening for years and is nearly complete The Obama EPA placed such overwhelming restrictions on lead smelting plants in the US that the last of them were forced to shut down Now Fish & Wildlife is starting to ban lead bullets...

    Wheel weight lead question

Your best move with wheel weights is to trade them for pure lead to someone who pours for unmentionables. Wheel weight alloy is very popular and commonly used for quite a few calibers With the advent of zinc WW's the lead alloy ones are getting very hard to come by, at least around me in NJ. My...

    Black powder in New Jersey?

I was just there myself following the gunmakers fair. The sticker shock was pretty rough, all I ended up buying were a few used triggers out of a clearance box

Stain before carving... So what could go wrong ?

I don't follow the same path that everyone else follows, so far that's worked out pretty well. I'm worried about the edges of the carvings picking up too much color if I need to retouch - should I be?

Stain before carving... So what could go wrong ?

I waited an extra 6 months to get an extra fancy grade stock for my Chambers Smooth Rifle build. I plan on doing a little bit of carving and wire inlay (not too much, I want the wood to be the star here) but I want it to flow with, and accentuate, the patterns in the grain. To make that happen I...

Can anyone ID these two locks

Agree, CVA was the importer, but who was the manufacturer ?

Can anyone ID these two locks

Obviously lower end Spanish import stuff, 1970's ? Probably imported by CVA but I've been trying to match the manufacturer The second one looks like it could be OK to play around with. No matter how low end, for the price I got them at I can't complain
