    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

I just sprayed them with Ballistol and poured hot water over them and let them soak about 30 minutes. Then I rinsed them and wiped them down and cleaned with a cleaning brush. Then sprayed with just Ballistol. I don't see "gunk" anywhere.

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

Well, I cleaned and lubed the locks again. Now, both hammers will fall properly when the front lock plate screw is at a certain tightness. Now I need to see if they'll set off caps.

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

Another thing I noticed is that in order to remove the right lock, I need to remove the tang. I don't need to do that to remove the left lock. Is that normal?

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

I could try that, but the locks looked pretty clean when I first removed them. I sprayed them with Ballistol and then swabbed with a Q tip and that did loosen them up a bit. I think the locks mechanics are just faulty. Thanks

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

I probably fall in the middle of the two viewpoints. I might be willing to compromise and accept a partial refund to pay a gunsmith or a willingness from the seller to have it repaired. It's a nice looking gun and it handles beautifully. I'd love to carry it in the woods. Thanks for the input.

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

Just to be clear, the gun was "new" to me, but it's an older gun from 1980. When I checked the bore, it was absolutely pristine. Now I know why, it couldn't be fired. It was probably someone's wall hanger for 40 years.

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

It does the same thing off the stock. I contacted the seller, I'm going to send it back if I can. I'm one day past the GB three day return period.

You need to be more specific. Thanks

    Problems With "New" Pedersoli Shotgun

The right hammer only falls to half cock most of the time and neither hammer will set off the caps. Tried loosening the lock plate a little and tightening the brindle screws, which I had previously loosened. Any ideas before I notify the seller? Thanks

Look for a T/C .56 cal smooth bore on Gun Broker or on here.

Remove lead shot from some factory shot shells, to load in my muzzloading shotgun. Worth it.

Round Balls Out Of A Bird Gun

Interesting, I'm inclined to think that a round ball is going to generate more pressure, thus more recoil. My 6 pound unmentionable pounds the cr** out of me with slug loads. Thanks

Round Balls Out Of A Bird Gun

So I just got this older Pedersoli 12 gauge and it weighs about 5.5 pounds. Obviously, this is intended to be an upland bird gun. Should I have have any qualms about shooting round balls, besides loosening molars? The bores are supposedly improved cylinder, it says 18.3 under both barrels...

    Older Pedersoli Hammer Issue

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I took the locks off and lightened the screws a little, then cleaned the mechanism with Ballistal and Q tips. It's a little better now. That spring is heavy duty. From all appearances, this gun was never fired. Thanks again.

    Older Pedersoli Hammer Issue

Just took delivery of an older DGW Pedersoli 12 gauge double dated to 1980. I'm generally pleased with the gun, except for one thing, the hammers are extremely stiff, especially the right one. Is this typical for Pedersolis of this vintage? I'm thinking heavier hammer springs were installed at...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Don't ask, lol. Took my Pedersoli Harper's Ferry .54 pistol for a shoot. Wasted at least a half dozen caps trying to get it to fire. Cleaned the breech out really well and finally got it to go boom. Need to clean more thoroughly in the future.

    Rifling A 12 Gauge

    No, it's a Mountain Magnum.

    Rifling A 12 Gauge

I've been toying with the idea of having the barrel in my 12 gauge T/C Shotgun rifled. All things being equal, would rifling generate more pressure and recoil than a smooth bore? This gun only weighs about 7 pounds, but the barrel walls are pretty thick. Thanks

    Wads For a Smoothbore Pistol

I think ball size depends on the gun. I shoot .520 round balls out of my .54 smoothy pistol and I usually use felt wads from TOW, though I've also tried lubed patches. FWIW
