I am an idiot. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

More information needed, BUT there are several things you can do. (1) Verify that the bbl. doesn't have a charge + projectile in it. (2) You need to chase the threads, i.e., rethread that hole. (3) Once you determine the manufacturer, you can look for a new touch hole liner and maybe a new...

July 4 is National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day!

As nessmuk said, it was a day at the range even with a not so good score for me. This time, I used a "proper" revolver @ 15 yd. off hand. The one I'm submitting scored 24 its, but the other two were far worse. Next month I'm going back to a rifle! Edit: The gun is a Ruger Old Army with...

It's also very volatile, so for chain or patch lube, you should use it outdoors.

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

Those targets tell me your gun wants to shoot. Also, if you want a decent patch lube, try tap water with just enough dish soap to make it slippery, not slimy or 1 Ballistol : 6 parts water.

July 4 is National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day!

I returned from the range less than 1 hour ago after shooting 2 targets for this month's frolic.I know I printed 3 , but wouldn't you know it, two were stuck together and thus limited me to 10 shots: bummer! Although I have 2 entries, I won't enter them for record as I used an unmentionable...

That liquid silicon* lube also used to be available at Lowes and maybe Home Depot. It was OK for my bikes, but it never occurred to me to try it as a patch lube. * It's teflon, not silicon

    Old army / hard cast.

Can the gun handle hard cast without issues? Yes it can, but that's not the problem. To wit, loading HC bullets puts a great deal of strain on the loading lever. If you break it, replacement parts will be hard to find.

    Spiller and Burr

Three suggestions about managing fouling: (1) Damp swab the bbl. after each cylinder full to control fouling there. (2) Use lubed felt wads over the powder charge to control, but not eliminate bore fouling, (You can buy these or make them yourself. If the latter, Google Duro Felt.) (3) A...

And let's not forget to thank Gary for hosting and scoring these monthly frolics!

Gary, With that kind of shooting, I think I'd forego the patched RB and just continue what you're doing. Btw, when we moved upstate NY, those pistols were very popular seeing as Numrich Arms in West Hurley, NY was nearby.

    Ball-Patch work-up advice

Harry, I'm a firm believer in Stumpy's Moose Snot (post #17) when you don't want to use a liquid patch lube. With a 50gr. charge of FFg, I don't need to wipe the bore of my .50cal. Lyman GPR until I've fired 5 - 8 shots the very least, depending on ambient conditions. If you can stand using a...

    Trade Gun Lock

I also have one of those GRF NW trade guns with the Italian made lock. I asked about this on several forums, but no one seemed to know who made it. A few attributed it to Navy Arms, an import obviously. However, by polishing its innards and shimming the frizzen, I got it to work flawlessly.

    Graf Powder

I've used it as Wano/Schuetzen for years with complete satisfaction. More recently, Graf's powder was made by Goex (says so if you peel off the label). It too works great.

    Precision Shooting....??? Maybe......

With proper rests (front & rear) and perhaps a sight adjustment (which proper rests would help determine), I'm sure you could have put more than a few into the center, Mark.

    June Postal Match Target

My rib injury has healed enough to allow me to participate in the June Frolic. Here are 3 of my targets, which I fired earlier today. Even though I had my excuses ready, I apparently didn't need them [today], as I could see the targets very well. The particulars: I shot from a semi-rest...

OP wants to know what your .600 RB load combo works best for accuracy

Well, my Green River Forge 20ga. NW Trade Gun's bore measures .618" - .619" and can be temperamental. At 25 yd. it can be quite accurate with a patched .597" - .603" patched RB, the latter measurement is from an out of round Lyman mould. Powder charges can be as low as 65gr. FFg, + .014" or...

Ever shoot a loading rod down range? You tell me........... I won't rat you out !

I did it once when I was new to the ML rifle game. To wit, I somehow managed to stick the rod and cleaning jag in the bbl. of my T/C Hawken (or perhaps I just forgot it was there!). I fired it out and never saw or retrieved any part of it. Needless to say, recoil was a tad heavy, but I...
