OK, 25 degrees I can appreciate. I am from a warmer climate and don't usually freeze my fingers when shooting.

    Newbie looking for first flintlock

I don't have the Traditions but I do have the Pedersoli Kentucky rifle in .45. I had the lock sent out to Brad Emig to get it to stop eating flints (the lock geometry was all wrong). He did good work at a reasonable price but I still had to fiddle with the sear spring to get the trigger pull...

Sorry to hear about the buckhorn sight but for future reference you should be able to tap powder through the touch hole without removing it. I have had to do this twice, now and it works well. BTW I was using 3f powder to do it. 4f should go with no problem.

Minie Skirt stuck in barrel of 1861 Springfield

I agree. I had to wonder what he has been hunting.

    Paper cartridges?

What kind of rifle? There are many rifles that are designed for cartridges like that. If you are talking about a Hawken or some other muzzle loading gun a paper cartridge like one for then my opinion is that it won't work. The revolver barrels obturate directly on the ball whereas our rifles...

Years ago when I first got that stock I called Deer Creek and they had one in stock. My funds weren't there so I had to pass until I could buy it. Never happened.

    ISO CVA Mountain Rifle Stock

Hi Pegleg_86, I have an old CVA Mountain Rifle stock. It is from some kit and has not been finished. Whoever had the kit had issues with the it and it would need some work. Attached are pictures for your reference. I originally got this to see if I could make a frankengun but that project...

My Printer has paper jams but my pistol?

Wow, talk about reviving an old post. My attempts and nitrating the coffee filter paper did not prove much different. I still got paper jams after the first shot and I haven't found curling papers anywhere (but I will actively look again). Those with no issues seemed to be the .44 ca. guys...

Sounds like a scam, please advise

Not a day goes by when I don't regret my not seeing it up front. Again, my post was a warning to others. Any further discussion should be taken up in the other discussion forums.

Sounds like a scam, please advise

Mustang65, My post was to warn of a ripoff that OP might have fallen for. When I fell for it they stalled shipping because I hadn't paid the Hazmat fee (which they didn't state on their website or checkout page) and an insurance fee of $100.00 (also not stated). I bargained down to a $10.00...

Pawn Shop CVA Mountain Rifle Today

Wow, that's got a four screw patch box. That makes it an early one and possibly made in America. Good find!

Sounds like a scam, please advise

My experience is that you will get ripped off. I fell for the same scam a year ago. You can get them now from Cabela's and Bass Pro but at the higher going rate.
