    58 CVA Hawken

Well,I took her for a hunt today. Of course the only thing I saw was a fallow doe and her ¾ grown fawn, which wandered in towards me from 100m away and hung around at 30m for a good 5 to 10 minutes before they either caught my scent or seen my arm move,I was hiding my rather large frame behind a...

58 cal Hawkens roundball load ?

Where did you get your maxi balls from? I tried 530gn Lee minies in mine over a 70gn charge of 2f the other day and they shot woefully, to be expected i feel from a 1 in 66 twist barrel, but I was thinking a shorter bullet like a maxi ball might just work

Best food ever while out hunting

Or,when we were doing native animal studies for NPWS,alfoil wrapped potatoes in the coals, which invariably got burnt but you could still break them open and slather them in butter and salt and they were soooooo delicious after walking around in the dark for 2 hours checking mist nets during...

Best food ever while out hunting

One of my favourite meals when we used to pig hunt was " neds corner stew ", which was essentially a perpetual stew into which we threw whatever we caught or shot or had left over for the 4 days we were there over Easter long weekend. Another good one was bacon wrapped sausages cooked in a camp...

I've already chosen the second one from the right. The bag cost 15 bucks so it don't matter too much to me

    58 CVA Hawken

So I'm setting up a shooting bag for the 58,I've got these choices to make the strap out of,the first on the left is extremely wide but thin nylon, second and third are obviously narrower but also thicker cotton,4th is woven jute and quite thin, fifth is good old cotton webbing made thats narrow...
