    opinion on Lyman rifles wanted

I bought a lyman GPR in 54. it was not a bad rifle, but the lock is a factory lock with several issues. the frizzen, main spring, the frizzen spring..all needed work. mine out of the box shattered flints because the frizzen spring was way too stiff. so i paid 750$ for a rifle that I paid another...

    LightWeight Tent

admittedly my hand stitchin sucks terribly, I will be using basting tape to keep things straight and using a half felled seam. The half felled seam is very strong, relatively fabric efficient and makes a very good waterproof seam . i will also be using basting tape on all of the reinforments to...

    LightWeight Tent

Well the tent is under way, I happen to run into a really good deal on some twin sheet sets. I bought 2 800 thread count sheet sets for 14.99 each. two flats sheets together will give me about an 8x8 tarp...not too shabby for 30$ more to follow as it progresses..currently i am dying the sheets...

    Do fiber wads go bad?

dug into a bag of wads I had lying around. Right away I noticed t he ends were mushroomed and very fuzzy. when loading the tops tear away into pieces and seem to crumble as i load them into the bore. Needless to say I tried them at the range and I could not hit t he broad side of a barn! 5 shots...

Old CVA dbl bl shotgun kit

I think it would be worth it , However please bear in mind that if the allegations/issues with cva were even remotely factual/common....people would not be using them. I personally do not have one, however there are thousands that do! and they shoot them every day. I did some looking at the...

    True Oil not drying well

    1) spray can finishes are a pain in the arse in my opinion. 2) the more humid it is the longer it takes to cure. If you have a blow dryer you can hit it with that for a while to help it cure..but your best bet is to just let it sit for a couple of days. 3) i tend to find that aeresol finishes...

    Hemp for wadding material

I recently found a large roll of hemp romp in the shed that had become moldy , and no longer suitable for use as rope. I shredded some by hand and its nice and fluffy...was thinking it could make good wadding material with a bit of wax/oil. Has anyone ever used it? also, i have only ever used...

Looking for some advice on purchasing a Brown Bess

Just my experience, I bought a Curry gun from veteran arms. A charleville to be exact, and it was "ok" . I had Dave Person who s a member of t he forum rework, and reharden all of the components. From day one I got about 30 shots out of the frizzen and then it was dead. the internal components...
