    CVA breech

I'll crawl my Slim-Fast *ss out on a very skinny branch and suggest it was just to help secure things on that cutaway model.

    Whats Everybody Doing?

Attended. Unfortunately still as disappointing as ever since Covid. But, still nice to have something local. One vendor with a half dozen cans of Triple F Scheutzen and 3 tins of RWS caps. One other with a CVA Hawken. All I noticed for muzzleloading stuff.

Training techniques to improve offhand shooting.

Upper body strength is important for a steady hold when shooting offhand. It's very important that your sights align naturally on the point you want to hit so adapting your stance, sometimes as small a thing as pivoting a foot more in or outward. As I was taught, especially in...

    Starting fires with patches

Seen that happen and, believe it or not, shot one out that was just kicking up.

Thinking about a second Hawken rifle.

    Why stop at 2?

    A question about pyrodex

I didn't go through the thread in detail, perhaps somebody already pointed out that artillery rounds used to use BP for igniting the main propellant.

    Whats Everybody Doing?

Man, this section seems like a bad marriage. Few people talking to each other much. Have not done any muzzleloading for some time. Work finally picked up (maybe a bit too much) around the new year. Figure I've slept in my own bed maybe two weeks total since then. But predictions are that...

    Aperture sights

Unless you're trying to shoot the fleas off a dog's arse at 500, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does concern you overly, don't remove the barrel or bed it to minimize any displacement when replacing. Which might very well open another can of worms. Shoot it as is for a while, carrying on any...

    Unmentionable powder measure

How could it be unmentionable? You're using a round ball. But it appears you may have forgotten to patch it.

    Lead could dissolve a marriage

Sure glad my wife has no interest in all things muzzleloading, including watching over my shoulder on this forum.

How do you stabilise your rifle for load testing/sighting in?

I use a Caldwell 7 rest with foam zip tied to the front yoke, figger it's closer to resting on my hand to minimize jump. At the range one day another fellow was having kittens trying to zero his new suppository with a Lead Sled. I tried a shot using his setup, found it unnatural and...

How do you stabilise your rifle for load testing/sighting in?

My thoughts..... bench rest for load development and starting to zero. Finish zeroing using whatever position you fancy or are most likely to shoot from. Minimize human error for development and allow your natural error to be incorporated into your final zero.

    Belly Box

Nice. Personally I'd have to make one that sat on my chest. A lot of belly to reach under to get to it.
