Looking for a T/C Seneca Manual

You will probably find that the Seneca has the rear sight described on page 65 of the manual that Mr. Raby provided in post #6. Pay special attention to the instructions for the locking set screw associated with windage adjustment. If it isn't loosened before adjustments are made you could cause...

    What's it for?

I don't recall ever seeing or having a T/C sidelock with this hole, however, I just pulled out my T/C catalog #21 copyright 1994 and read about their Quick Release (scope) Mounting System. This consisted of a base (and base adapter for different models) that was mounted to the gun and then a...

Question about TC Round Ball Twist Barrels

According to the T/C catalogs that I have the round ball twist barrels have .010" deep cut rifling.

There are also several threads on JP Gunstocks rifles including the Henry that can be accessed through the SEARCH feature at the top of the page.

    New Crocket .32 Squirrel Rifle

Almost embarrassed to say that I bought a Crockett at a swap meet last spring and haven't even made the time to take to the range yet. I did however find the same short comings with the rod just running patches. I took a short piece of whitetail antler and made a T-handle for the rod by drilling...

Any know about this JP HENRY

Possibly by JP Gunstocks? I remember reading a review article in an old Muzzle Blasts magazine about JP Gunstocks of Las Vegas making a JJ Henry model when they were in business. I have one of their long rifles called The Classic; it has a small shield around the letters JP stamped near the...

How Far Can You Make Successful Kill Shots ?.

One of the most interesting articles that I've ever read on this subject can be found in Muzzle Blasts magazine, Volume 56-No.1, September 1994. Author Paul Kelly describes a study/shoot he conducted at a Colorado clubs annual shoot using a deer sized target set at 171 yards in a hunting type...

    Ring in Barrel

When you send a moderately tight patch down the barrel and get to a point where the resistance to the patch increases and then returns to the same amount I would suspect that you have found a rough spot due to corrosion/damage. If the resistance decreases and then returns to the same amount I...

    coning a barrel question

If I'm reading your post correctly, your saying that "it" aint broke and your thinking of fixing "it" when one of the possible outcomes could be having to answer to higher authority when she says, "You did what to my rifle?"

Went Hunting and Left my .54 loaded for 3 days

My two cents worth: I've hunted with percussion rifles for many years and have generally left my hunting load in the rifle until I was lucky enough to get a shot at an animal or until I knew my season was over; some years I've left it loaded until the next summer. Only once has my rifle failed...

    T/C Hawkin HELP!

For what this is worth, I wouldn't do anything drastic to start with. I once had a T/C Hawken that on its first trip to the range with me printed the tightest group I've ever gotten from a T/C, a ragged five shot hole right at the top (50 yds) of a standard 100yd rifle target using a six oclock...

    T/C Hawken Half Cock Position?

It is probably fine; the noise you are hearing is perhaps a part called the fly which is designed to drop/pivot down to block the half cock notch on rifles with set trigger systems; its there to prevent the sear from catching the half cock when the rifle is fired with the set trigger. It's not...

    Pyrodex Select shelf life

I have had several bottles of Pyrodex over the years that have been opened, used and then stored for long periods of time. I will occasionally shoot some and have never had any that I thought had gone bad. I no longer use it for hunting; just plinking. I did once hear an odd report from a shot...

Have you tried the back up hammer to see if it is "already bent"?

Anyone using the Hornady 240gr conical?

I don't believe that you will acheive your goal; if you are talking about Hornady's .50 "ball-et" conical, it is shaped like a round ball up front and is designed for twist rate of 1/66". It would probably give you similar performance to a round ball. That having been said, I have not tried them...

Bend the hammer or set back the barrel ?

You would be moving the barrel wedge key back by the same distance and may create a new problem there. Are you sure it has the correct nipple installed? A shorter nipple would be the easiest fix.

    Royland Southgate Letter

I remember that when I was a wee lad my grandma kept a jar with some water in it that she tossed all of the slivers of soap from nearly used up bars into, thus making a liquid soap. I would guess that that would have been quite common with those who grew up in the depression.

    Mountain rifle trigger help

You did not mention whether you have the kit instructions booklet or not; for what it is worth, step 9 in the instructions says that you need to make a gouge on the front left hand side of the seating shelf for the trigger(s) plate to accomodate the thin wire spring allowing it complete freedom...
