    Help in Identifying a Percussion?

I'M NOT AN EXPERT.........but, me thinks that the name on the lock is probably GLOCHER.

    Presentation pistol case

OK; now practice this in front of the mirror a few times......."Honey, I didn't want this beautiful display box to go to waste and I got a really good deal on the new revovler." Good luck. Let us know how it works out for you.

    Mystery part?

If you decide to re-install it you should look up a schematic and pay attention to how it goes in; if you put it in upside down it can declare a tug-of-war for your ram rod.

    CVA Mountain Rifle... salvageable?

I have had good results using bronze chore boy wrapped around a nylon brush that goes easily down the barrel; that may get rid of some of those larger "bumps" of what look like corrosion to me. I don't think that patches and solvent are going to do anymore for you at this point. I sure wouldn't...

    Tang sight for Seneca

They were not designed to; T/C sight No. 7194 fits Hawken and Renegade models; T/C sight No. 7196 fits Seneca and Cherokee models. My source for this information is directly from a NOS Tang Sight hang card. The base of the Hawken sight is wider than the tang of the Seneca. I don't know if entire...

    Jukar .45 caplock

The one thing I would add to the above advise is that you would be well served to invest in range rod for loading and cleaning at the range. The rifle that you have is not known for having the best of ram rods. I started decades ago with a Jukar Kentucky rifle and my first range session was cut...

    Lyman Trade Rifle?

I'm assuming that you are calling it a Trade Rifle because the barrel is marked as such? To me it looks like someone with above average skill took a Trade Rifle barrel and a Great Plains Rifle stock and performed a marriage adding a patch box, sling swivels and non-factory sights along with some...

    Original or Modern Copy ?

Just pulled my Hawes Japanese made Tower out of the closet and it looks just like it, but in better condition. The heavy rusting on the left side of the barrel in the breech area would "disappear" the serial number and Hawes stamp on my example. That area also looks a little flat to me; like it...

    CVA Mountain Rifle... salvageable?

Looks like a scratch-off lottery ticket to me; I'd have to get it cheaper than you are thinking.

    Black powder horn?

Nice powder horn. It looks contemporary to me. You might try looking on the contemporary makers blog; somebody there might know who the maker is by the initials.

    CVA 24" Frontier Carbine Upgrades

I bought my 24" Frontier .50 several years ago with my intention being to use some of its parts on another CVA. Its bore looked like orange fuzz when I bought it for $25 and I thought it was a goner. To my surprise all but a couple of freckles mid barrel cleaned up with some extended scrubbing...

So I picked up this CVA Hawken and... Well, now what?

It is not uncommon to find straight from the factory CVA rifles with bent sear arms; I believe that they bent them when necessary to give "acceptable" function of lock/triggers. I would not be in a hurry to bend the sear arm back to straight; you might just take your roughly working rifle and...

    Smokin bushytails

Pictured in this post is a gray squirrel. Throughout most of their range they will have two litters per year, with 2-5 young per litter. Severe food shortage can result in smaller litters or even suspension of breeding. My source for this statement is Leonard Lee Rue III in his work Sportsman's...

    .350 Balls

The hardness wouldn't bother me if the batch I have was round; I'm sure the squirrels wouldn't notice the difference. I tried to photograph a few to show what I'm talking about, but, I couldn't get my camera to focus on the little buggers good enough to show the deformation that I'm talking...

    .350 Balls

Assuming 65 grains per ball you will get about 538 per 5lb box. I know I may have mentioned this before, but, I went this route several years back and found the buckshot somewhat lacking in performance. The buckshot balls have a slight "belt" and seem to be somewhat harder than their standard...

Don't try to load that Golden Gun from the muzzle; you could "shoot your eye out."

Phone charging cord by any chance? Could be the new definition of, "I've got a hot call coming in."

Your best deal acquiring a muzzleloader, either trade or purchase

You didn't need to talk him down; he already talked himself down.

    Thompson Center Sight Interchangability

I believe that T/C changed some sight manufacturing specs over the years so there will not be a simple yes/no answer to this question. Front sights should be interchangable, but, I suspect you are thinking more about rear sights. Remember that Renegades have 1" barrels and Hawkens have 15/16"...
