    Sometimes you have to turn the jag down in a drill, jags need to be sized to the barrel. Example: all 50 caliber barrels are not the same size bore.

    Where I am in New York, T/C flinters can be bought at gun shows in the $250.00 - $400.00 range. No one in my area shoots Flint or real black anymore, they mostly use the in lines. I picked up a .62 flinter built from a Track kit for $400. about 6 yrs. ago. Just the parts kit is $800.00 +

    Doesn't the carbine have a fast twist barrel, I had a Cabellas with a 32" barrel and it was a 1-48, I'm pretty sure the carbines were 1-26 or so.

    I used to have a .58 Cabellas, I used a .562 ball with good results .015 patch.

    You are probably going to have to re sight, you are going to lose pressure from the vent which could cause a difference in trajectory.

    I use shot gun cleaning rods with a 10/32 adapter on the end, T handle on top. use it for loading, cleaning, stuck ball removal.

    Pull the nipple and see if you can dribble some powder OUT. That will tell you if it is smokeless or not.

    I have a T/C hunter peep on my .54 for 30 yrs. those sights are becoming very pricey and hard to find.

    HELP! Cleaning jag stuck

    Most people don't realize that a jag needs to be sized to the bore of the rifle. It should go down loose and bunch up the patch coming out. Easy enough to do, chuck the jag in a drill and hit it with a file.

    Looks like the cock needs to be bent upwards. I have a 45 cal. Pedersoli that looked just like your lock. I had to re bend it and shorten the upper jaw of the cock.
