Does anyone have a picture of the rice range rod?
Traveling week and no photos of Rice rods I have, but basically stainless rod with maybe 1-1/2 to 2” diameter plastic ball with treaded insert molded into it to hold the rod. I’ve got rods with rotating handles and they are great until you need to pull a ball or load. You want something that will allow you to thread the ball puller into the ball. Not going to happen easily with a rotating handle, at least in my opinion.

I like to stay with how it was done back in the day. I believe all they used was the gun hickory rod, so I do to. I use tow to clean and it puts much less strain on the rod than a tight fitting patch. The tow does a good job of scrubbing the breech face too without having to buy a scraper.
The method can be done in the field as easily as at home. Actually, I find myself doing it more it's so easy.

I have a nylon rod I bought at Cabelas years ago. I modified it with a homemade handle to was loading. It doubles as a range rod and cleaning rod.
