The Words We Use and How They Define Us

As a kid on the farm the out house was the crapper, the bath was a wash tub on Saturday nights, later in my teens in the USN it was the head. We did crp/pee in the head but not in the same stalls. That wash tub sat on the floor near the parlor coal fired stove in the winter months and sufficed...

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

Google Harvest and it’s agricultural related. And the book: Leviticus 23:22 22 “ 'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the LORD your...

    Schutzen Musket vrs CCI

Ok. So I ordered 1000 four wing musket caps, hoping they work with the Sharps breech loader. That should get me thru the summer and beyond. While I was at it I ordered 5 more pounds of 2F. That’s getting me close to the fed limit on house hold storage of black powder. Love Grafs and their low...

    Schutzen Musket vrs CCI

Ok thanks for that. CCI is all I’ve ever used on the three breech loaders. The Sharps is the only one of the three that might have any difficulty. Mr Fleas recommended RWS. Not obtainable, unless you know of a supply. I’ll shoot what I can get so Schutzen it is. 1000 minimum order from Grafs...

    Schutzen Musket vrs CCI

How do the two brands of caps compare. Grafs has Schutzen. Reason for asking is RWS are recommended for the Sharps but CCIs work fine. Will the Schutzen works as well as the CCIs. Minim order is 1000. No problem if there are as least as hot as CCI’s. I’m down to two tins and summer is here.

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

I’ve found #11’s to be the all around cap, I’ve 20 or so revolvers everything from the 1962 Police to the Walker. A slight squeeze on the 11 and it will fit tight enough on most nipples. All my revolvers have the nipples the gun came with. Not disagreeing but bigger is better than too small...

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

Flintlocks, a club with one shot capability. That’s if one has mastered the art of flint adjustment, kept the primer pan dry amd the vent open. Sorryguys, can’t resist, not trolling, There’s a reason the world moved on from “rock locks”. I’ve got a couple but there’s just more fun in a more...

    Rules and definitions

Personally I think the name of this forum is misleading and ambiguous. Firearms in use up to the end of the civil war, may be discussed, but mention any thing regarding reloading metallic cartridges and it’s deleted, heck that definition includes several early examples of fixed, rim fired...

    Hearing protection

My brand new, VA supplied hearing aids automatically reduce noise over a certain db. They also Bluetooth from my cellphone. I can tune in SiriusXM and stream Willies Road house while shooting my blackpowder guns. No muffs required.
