Start with 50gr and and work down 5gr at a time until accuracy falls off.

    Barrel life PRB

I have an old original ML from the mid 1800s. It shows lots of use and repairs but the barrel is all original. It is still a tack driver.

.50 cal 250 grain Lee Real bullets

What Overkill said is sound. An over powder wad is not a must but sometimes it helps improve accuracy. Lube your REALs and you shouldn't have a leading problem. You shouldn't have to worry about the REAL coming of the powder either, that's mostly pertains to the minie because they are a slightly...

    Black powder and the military?

Not a big use but when I was a prison guard, we had blank shotgun rounds, we called poppers. They were for warning shots and were BP. I imagine they could use another powder instead.

    Accuracy help. Traditions longrifle

Look at your fired patches. That will tell you allot. Also don't think because one gun works a certain way, they all will. Your gun isn't broken in yet and that could be allot of it. Your fired patches should look good enough to use again.

    Problem with Pyrodex pistol pellets

I've never shot the pellets but heard one end has a tiny bit of real BP on it. Maybe you loaded them backwards? personally I just wouldn't shoot the pellets anyway.

Best load for Lyman.50 Hunter percussion

The only way to know for sure is to shoot it. Try different loads. You won't know what yours will actually do unless you try different loads. I'd start with 70 grains and work up 5gr at a time.

    Mold Question

Some people have trouble with Lee moulds because they have used steel moulds so long, they are use to them and not the way the Lees cast. There is some difference but not that much IMO.

    .325 round balls

I have 32's that like .310 but one likes .320. Try and see but your's will probably like the smaller one.

    Smoky smell.

I bought a truck once, apparently whoever owned it once smoked so much in it, there was smoke between the double layers of glass in the windshield.

    Supplier Quality Problems

Some manufacturers tend to have quality problems from time to time. They let it slide, then get lots of complaints and fix the problem(for the most part) and have good quality for awhile, then let it slide again. A modern maker had that problem years back, I don't know haw they are these days...

    Hunting gun

I'm thinking some kind or pistol or target shooting. Just an educated guess though.

    Expired patch lube.

What went bad about it? My guess is the alcohol evaporated out.

    Firing the ramrod down range.

I never have shot a RR down range. Dryballed a few times and once forgot to bring my RR to the range with me.

Lubing Lee REALs-what am I doing wrong?

I use to dip them. I put the lube in a really small crock pot and chilled the bullets in a freezer so the lube cooled instantly. Crock had a lid so I just put the lid on when done to keep the melt clean.
