    Cleaning between rounds

Welcome to the Forum! I haven’t shot Pyrodex for years. I can’t remember if it’s less dirty than Black Powder. Patches treated with a liquid lube help keep the bore cleaner as they “wipe” the inside of the barrel every time you load, pushing the fouling down onto the powder charge. I use a...

    Chasing T/C Threads

I did not know that. Thanks for the info! David at the Gun Works did tell me the Ampco nipples they sell are a little thicker than the others. I've used them with some success. Walt

    Chasing T/C Threads

I bought a 1/4x28 Bottom Tap off eBay for $6.95 shipped. When it arrived, I found out the seller had ordered it from Home Depot! I didn't know they sold single taps that's why I went to eBay. Having a Home Depot account, I thought "I could have done that!" Walt

    Green River Forge Facebook Page

While not as popular and sometimes harder to identify than GRRW, I've started a GRF FB Collectors page. I've uploaded most of the photos I have plus some off here from Lonesome Charlie and Buff. I still have a couple of my guns to put on there. You can find the albums here...

Asher Hamilton 45 caliber “Poorboy” Percussion Rifle

I've started a Green River Forge Collectors Page on Facebook. It's for the company guns and any of its builders who went on to develop their own creations, like Asher Hamilton. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2371953209643716

Asher Hamilton 45 caliber “Poorboy” Percussion Rifle

The browned barrel is 33" x 7/8". Overall length is 48 3/8". Lop is 14". It weighs 8 pounds. The stock appears to be Walnut. The furniture is iron. There is no nose cap. The front sight is a blade. The notch rear sight is adjustable for windage only. I have no idea when this was made...

WANTED Zouave Carbine Steel Ram Rod

Ordered one from Dixie but will need to cut it down and thread the end. Thanks! Walt

Asher Hamilton 45 caliber “Poorboy” Percussion Rifle

Asher was an artisan working for Green River Forge in Springfield, Oregon. He went to build his own guns under the name Lincoln County Gun Works in Newport, Oregon. I read in an older thread on another forum that he used Bob Roller Locks. I’m not sure who made this one or the triggers. I’ve...

WANTED Zouave Carbine Steel Ram Rod

I'm looking for a Steel Ram Rod that fits a Zoli Zouave Carbine . It's 25.5" x 3/16". I could use a full-length Rod and cut it down. Does anybody have one or know which supplier might? Thanks in Advance! Walt

I agree. I bought mine to shoot from the bench. I couldn't imagine trying to hold that long barrel steady! Walt

    New to me Rifle

I did not know that. My knowledge of him is limited. I know he made Hawken Barrels during the Hawken Craze of days gone by. I've got a 45-caliber Long Rifle with one of his barrels on it. Thanks for the insight! Walt

    New to me Rifle

Been a while since I looked at one. Went back into my photos and you're almost correct. It's a Zouave carbine! But with a Winchester Style rear sight like the Buffalo Hunter. That's where I got confused. Still a neat little gun! Thanks! Walt

    Traditions 1858 Bison

The price has gone up a little. I bought the Steel Frame from the Gun Works last year for $380. Now they're $410.00. The Brass is now $375! But, they have them in stock. https://www.thegunworks.com/custprodgun.cfm?Cat2Name=Revolvers&SubCat2ID=44&do=list&Cat1Name=Traditions Walt

    New to me Rifle

I’m working my booth at an Arms Collectors show this weekend. Something caught my eye on Friday during set-up. It appeared to be a beat-up Navy Arms Buffalo Hunter. Funny thing was, there are no such markings nor any for Zoli. What I found was William Large’s Hallmark. My guess is it was either...

I thought about doing that. I have some brad sized (diameter) pins I could use. Thanks! Walt

I’m looking for Repair Advice for two Stocks.

I picked these up at a Gun Show recently. The stocks have cracks. My thinking is wood glue and a clamp on the lighter colored because it's more flexible. Epoxy as a filler with no clamp for the darker. I’m open to suggestions from more seasoned Gunsmiths, Professional or not. Thanks! Walt
