    Kibler Breach Plug

Yea compressed air, setting off a small explosion to move the ball….. that wont damage the barrel… but using a wrench to remove a threaded plug ? ….. (a lot of sarcasm in this).

    Kibler Breach Plug

First things first breech plug removal is not something that needs to be done often, stuck balls are one of the few moments that you may need to. Always remember if there’s powder in there, don’t hit the breech with a torch or anything stupid, its a good idea to try to neutralize the powder...

    Stockmaker For Pre-1700 Guns

The rifle shoppe tends to stock an heavy inventory of their big movers lick the long land brown Bess, Ferguson, 1803 rifle and dog lock guns. Early Dutch and French guns tend to take longer because of the barrels, the barrels take a long time. As far as the stocks are concerned, they take a...

    Stockmaker For Pre-1700 Guns

You ordered a rifle shoppe kit? Have all the parts but the stock ? And want to order a different stock so you don’t have to wait. I would wait for your stock, you’ll end up having to get a blank large enough, and have someone design a stock from scratch, that will take just as much time and...

    Pattern 1776 Rifle

Dave did these German rifles use the same thimble system as the 1776 rifle, with the long rammer spring that is riveted to the underside ?

    Repair or replace

I would replace that stock. You could glue, pin, epoxy, mill a threaded rod into it then sleeve …. Wrist repairs are a challenge and the orientations are never the same. For a smooth bore i might repair it, but not for a rifle.

    Rebuilding a 1728 French Musket

This is an Indian made musket, its not a fine English sporting rifle or Fowler. The lock just needs to be tight against the barrel with a very limited or no gap between the pan and barrel, tight bolts or tight fit.

    Repair or replace

I’d get a new stock, sell the broken one, you’ll get something for it. Or use the broken one to practice on.

Raw wool instead of flax tow

Yes I stand corrected silicone …, but it still doesn’t burn and is great for paper cartridges.

    Fire Retardant Paper Cartridges

I use baking parchment to make my cartridges, it doesn’t burn from shooting, also looks authentic. It holds a wax coating nicely too.

Raw wool instead of flax tow

One major fact to consider is people in the 18th century didn’t shoot the way we shoot today. They didn’t go to the range to fire 20-30 rounds, shooting was done when it was needed, resources were limited. Whether using wool was a common practice or not is really not relevant… one saying it...
