    Thoughts on traditions rocklocks

They are about the least expensive flintlock you can buy. A cheap flintlock isn't worth the trouble. Good locks cost good money.

Does anyone make/sell something like a snap cap cone to dry fire a revolver?

It's simple to do: you file each cone one at a time to achieve proper clearance.

Does anyone make/sell something like a snap cap cone to dry fire a revolver?

On a properly set up revolver the hammer never touches the nipple: there is just enough clearance to detonate the cap.

Gunsmith to work on 1864-made Remington 1858?

A fellow who restored many old original rifles often removed small screws frozen from rust by soaking the parts in water. He would say "water put the rust there and water will remove it." Doing this enabled him to disassemble original locks and re-use the original screws.

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

I try to smoke every day but sometimes I don't have the time. Just finished some Dunhill Flake in a fine old Barling. Awesome!

The gunsmith at The Log Cabin in Lodi OH can replace the spring for you at reasonable cost.

    Getting the patent breech clean

WD 40 is an excellent choice to use after cleaning a barrel: water displacing, and unless the arm is put away for an extended period it works just fine. I use Burchwood Casey Barricade because it too is water displacing, but is better for long term storage.

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

Old guns were used until no longer serviceable, then the parts were often used to build new rifles.

    Getting the patent breech clean

Flush with water and clean the chamber with a shotgun cleaning mop.
