Here is What I Love About Muzzleloading

Purchased my little chunk of Heaven 41 years ago so I could shoot and pee where I wanted to. Built my passive solar house I designed with lots of glass to see and appreciate the surrounding beauty of the trees, birds and animals everyday. My shooting bench/picnic table is only 10 feet out the...

    scratch

I'm with Phil, take a magnet and check to see if it's not a brass plated steel rivet. No way brass can scratch steel.

    1860 Army Question

Try placing the front bead so it is barely visible in the bottom of the rear sight notch. This sighting, a "fine bead" should help you lower your POI without altering your pistol. A decent pistol shot can make 100 yard hits on reasonably sized targets without too much trouble. YMMV

    Christmas "trade goods" from A####n?

If you need nothing send a donation to those who do. I asked Mrs. Whitworth how she felt about it so we decided to give to the church's disaster fund for down South instead of gift's to each other we don't need. YMMV

    Ruger Old Army

I was typing the Elmer story when you beat me to it. His cylinder mishap also took off the top strap on his SAA. I agree your .45 is superior to the .44 but only 1.2 grains of H110 and 10 grains more of bullet isn't going to make much differnce to what ever gets shot by either, besides ".44...

    Old guy camping

That's a really nice cabin, quite the man cave and place for a man to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Nothing like living surrounded by nature, I hope God let's me die at my home in the woods.

    Davy Crockett King Frontier

I was a kid glued to the screen of the TV watching Davy Crockett. My grandmother had a powder horn hanging in her house that had belonged to her grandfather (Company K, 13th Virginia Infantry, 1841-1913) and she gave it to me because I liked Davy Crockett so much. Here it is 7 decades later:

    Ugly Stained Stock

I thought that looked like wire wheel work on those side plate screws. It's a lot easier to darken wood then lighten it. A bit of darkening on that side plate would be a great improvement IMHO. Two cycle engine exhaust goo has always been my go to for touching up of walnut. YMMV

    1863 Pocket Remington Canted Barrel

Clamp the barrel firmly between soft wood in a vise and use a hammer handle thru the frame to screw/unscrew the barrel. Soft wood that will crush around the barrel will help with the gripping action, a little powdered rosin will help too :thumb:

    Gun range lead concerns

Makes me think of Briscoe Darling's conversation with Mayberry Sheriff Andy Taylor about dealing with pesty neighbor Ernest T. Bass. Briscoe looked at Andy and matter of factly stated "Thought about killin' 'em, kinda hated to go that far." Barney piped up with 'It's wise man who doesn't...
