Caucasian Miquelet "Cossack" Pistol & Locks

Hello Peserey WOW !!! What a great job replicating a Circassian style pistol. Even the leather covered stock. The lock looks perfect. And the leather thumb piece, a nice addition. Just very nice job. I've often wondered what the original purpose was for covering the wood stocks on some...

    Scottish Musket lock

Hi Nick Nice job. The lock is a good example using an earlier form of the horizontal sear. Looks like she sparks like a banshee. LOL Having to add a slight amount of material to the nose of the sear. I know just what you were running into. Original Moroccan snaphaunce locks we find today...

    Brass Stocked Albanian Miquelet Pistol

Hi Cyten Nice looking Albanian rat-tail pistol and accessories. As you mentioned, the brass Palaskas were used to hold pre-formed paper cartridges primarily for their pistols which were almost all smoothbores. Years ago I once tried an experiment at the range. I made 5 cartridges and placed...

    Hy-Hunter Buccaneer parts

Hi Jappo I actually bought one of these new for about $35.00 back in 1963. LOL Used it at 13 years old to fire blanks in the back yard. Shot it till the sear spring broke. Glad you were able to get the mainspring fixed and the frizzen hardened. As I recall, that cone at the muzzle goes...

    Robinson Crusoe's guns?

A large Spanish knife whose style remained popular for a couple centuries. A pair of Spanish horse pistols that are an exact copy of an original in a private collection dated 1660. These might be possibilities of gun and knife during the period in question (?) Rick

What is my new dog lock musket, or doglock musket, supposed to be? And who made it?

As you can see in the above photos the lock was made using a standard Siler lock - with what Jim Chambers calls his "builders lock plate". This allowed the builder to shape the lock plate to whatever is desired. So this gun had to be built sometime after Jim started to offer the "square" lock...

What is my new dog lock musket, or doglock musket, supposed to be? And who made it?

Interesting Thread. I seem to recall sometime during the 1990's (?) or sometime just before The Rifle Shop started business, there was a small trend of shooters wanting to re-create flint guns from periods earlier than the traditional French style flintlock period. Primarily, it seems...

    fake or good?

Here's a possibility: Could this be a 19th Century Belgium gun made from surplus parts - with 20th Century stamps on the lock ? The brass trigger itself is unusual for a European gun. Note the front of the trigger guard is not inlet into the stock.
