I also had a great experience with Larry. I ordered a .440 bag mold and it works great. Casts very accurate balls and no issue at all dealing with him.
Kibler now has three models to choose from. Adding the Fowler makes four. Unless he adds new equipment, or new employees (not sure if he runs three shifts) he will have to make the new model on the same equipment, taking away production time from the other models so I think his lead times are...
Be careful with sites that pop up as having caps in stock. I found several new to me sites and after looking into them saw that they only accepted Venmo, pay pay friends and family or Zelle for payment, that’s a very good sign they are scammers.
I don’t think a turkey has the intelligence to recognize a gun as anything other than another stick in the woods. Wave it around and they will for sure spook though. A camo percussion gun is not my cup of tea but to each his own.
Use the search feature and you will find literally hundreds of posts of every model Kibler build. I would guess 99+% are extremely satisfied and maybe <1% had an issue and those issues were rectified very quickly.
I never finished a kit before and this year I did two Kibler SMRs, both in .45...
I’ve had that same pistol in my safe for about 30 years and have no idea what it is or what caliber. I inherited it and just never did anything with it. I just checked and apparently it is also .22 short. Can you give me a brief history of it, date range, value maybe?
Just to be clear, my first ML was a hawken reproduction I bought at Cabelas in the 90s for a hunt in Iowa. After that hunt I “upgraded” to an in-line. I doubt I’ll use either of those percussion rifles ever again but want to get some caps just in case.
Rob,
Being that 100 year old metal is so hard have you ever made any knives from it? I was wondering if it would make a superior blade compared to modern steel.
Thanks for the replies. I thought I found some online but when I went to check out it was Zelle or PayPal only so I didn’t order them. Might have to go with a matchlock if things keep going south !!!
I wouldn’t be shooting at that competition ever again. Definitely something shady going on. I wonder how many of his extra shots wound up on others targets.
What is the shelf life of #11 caps? I haven’t shot a percussion in 20 years but I have two. An in-line and a hawken reproduction. I’m thinking if the world goes to crap they might be my only options in the future and was thinking about sticking up just in case.
If it was a mercury thermometer check for a break (air pocket) in the mercury. If there is one cool it down very low, like with dry ice and suck all the mercury into the bulb and then let slowly reach ambient temperature and the break (air pocket) will be gone.
I never saw a bobcat in PA until 3 years. Opening day of buck season one walked by me. I went back once trapping season opened and caught it. Last year a big Tom walked by on opening day and I never got a chance to try him. A week ago I had these on my trail camera. I’d like to trap another but...
