Birchwood Casey Brass Black miserable failure !!!

I always thought we were supposed to take these outside and just pee on them for a few days. Rusty, did you try rubbing this back with bronze wool to see if you can find a sweet spot?

54 caliber, not so odd any more?

I lived most of my life in states where an elk tag was possible. so much preferred the .54. Odd that .48, .52, .53 calibers may have been as common in the first half-century of percussion rifles.

Dale, 'tis a sign of wisdom, according to Proverbs, which probably 'splains why I haven't much. 😄

2nd time at the range with Drachenfeuer

No gonne. But if they ship a month later, they may have shipped Friday. I should write a letter inquiring, with a 2-cent stamp.

    Roanoke Colony Firearms

I am still baffled that so many of the petronels are fitted with sights, yet the paintings show them being fired from a "low" position in which sights could not possibly have been used. Something is off here.

    Homespun riflemen’s knife

Mr. Wyatt, yours is a beautiful interpretation of the type, no matter its provenance in the historical record. And Wick, thanks for bringing that record into the conversation. Always great to see you posting.

A couple of rifles that need some love

Day-Lewis was a dedicated actor. From Wiki: "Day-Lewis starred in the American film The Last of the Mohicans (1992), based on a novel by James Fenimore Cooper. Day-Lewis's character research for this film was well-publicised; he reportedly underwent rigorous weight training, and learned to live...

Whoa. They charged my card yesterday. Can it be that they shipped today? Have 10 feet of 2mm fuse and a dozen .735 balls cast. (Little kid jumping up and down, trying not to pee himself ... 😄 )

    Forgotten Weapons on Tanegashima

Learned something new here: Stocks were typically of oak, and could be constructed in halves. Very interesting. I wonder what it would take to get Shigeo Sugawa to have his book reprinted.

    New from South Africa

Welkom Ratkas. I used to be a member of a wonderful blackpowder forum in RSA -- Whitesmoke.za run by a talented knifemaker named Willem O'Kelly -- but after the crackdown on powder -- both black and then the wonderful substitute Sannadex -- the forum seemed to lose its momentum and is now gone...

2nd time at the range with Drachenfeuer

Well, two "shipping Fridays" have passed since I ordered my gonne from TRS with no sign it is in transit, so they apparently are working to protect their reputation for delay. 😄
