    lead melting pots recommendation

Had a lee bottom pour for years, cast untold hundreds of pounds of lead through it for modern pistol bullets. Rheostat went out for the second time, and I upgraded to an RCBS that was on sale. Love it. Having constant temp control is sweet. Have cast about 300 pounds for muzzleloader bullets so...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Played with my Soddy .36 this morning, While rummaging through the safe for my Charleville that an old boy was maybe looking to buy I dug out my new to me defarbed Pedersoli 1795 re stamped1810 Harpers ferry. It fits me better than the Charleville. A little longer length of pull and a little...

    SkyChief load works.

The skychief load works out of my 54 smoothbore. Really tightens it up. No holes in the pattern. Works best with #4s and #5s.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Spent the afternoon running some balls through my Jack Garner rifle I bought on the forum last Dec. Mr. Jack has Conner Garrett helping him out between college classes. Conner built this one. She does have a few worm holes but really pretty wood. The best part is she sure is comfortable to...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Ran a couple of tubs full of .610s though my Larry Zorn 62 this afternoon, with my newly tuned lock from Brad Emig over at Cabin Creek Muzzleloading. Wow what a difference. I have always liked her, but with the tuned lock, I think this is my deer rifle this year. That 37" octagon to round...

Smoothbores shooting round ball really high

I hear you brother, I do spend a whole lot more time with my smoothbores shooting round balls than I do with my rifles. Offhand, I think I do better without the rear sight.

I have an old double barrel with a live oak replacement stock, Its pretty but, heavy, very heavy.

    That Evil Ember

I am more concerned with a cook off from a very hot barrel. You can load fast enough on a hot day while plinking to warm the barrel up where you can't touch it. I think if there is an ember left in the breach the powder would go off as soon as you pour it out of you measure and it gets to the...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Plinking with the .62 this afternoon. 104 is not too bad in the shade with a little breeze. Almost out of .60s again. Kinda dread firing up the melting pot in this heat. I may change to a caliber that I still have on hand till it cools off a bit. Good times.

    Cannot find Black Powder

I bought a case of 1.5 Swiss a few shortages ago. Could not tell the difference between it and 2F. Heck, I was burning it in my .40 some. Good stuff.
