Just look for a used one. Mine was $300 a couple of years ago. Of course it was all brown and crusty from being an American reenactor’s gun 😜 cleaned up nice and I took to lodgewood. A few more things to do.

I think I paid $45 new a couple years ago on eBay.

I had my Bess lock in evaporust and the mainspring exploded. You posted that link about how evaporust does that. I preach that gospel.
