in one picture, it appears to have a clear crack across the grip; others show no sign. Repaired?

    SOLD Centermark French Fusil

I already have (& love) one, or I'd be sorely tempted. That's a nice bit of figure in the stock.

    Tomahawk block ideas

What about feathers, hung on string(s) across the block, so they could move in any breeze. Small balloons, filled with flour or water. Messy, but messy is fun. Slices of (stale) bread, to be re-sliced by hawk or knife.

    Hard to find flintlock

I can understand the attraction. I had one but traded for a longer flint, for re-enacting. The only thing about it I disliked was the coil main spring. Had I kept it, I'd have replaced that lock. otherwise, it handled beautifully and was very accurate.

    I.D. of unusual double rifle

Sweet little rifle. Have you cleaned and fired it? Admittedly, cleaning can be a PIA, especially in smaller calibers, but that looks well worth the bother.

    PASS-TEE

First tasted a pasty in Cornwall, in the local. I've loved them ever since. w/ a sturdy crust, stamped to identify the owner, it was what the tin miners carried in w/ them. I was told that they ate half for lunch & saved the rest for later, hence the marking.

Help identifying this half stock plains Hawkins style 60cal?

The tang sight alone could be worth a big chunk of the offered price. I agree. Gather more info; check the bore condition; look for marks on or under the barrel (which might give clue to the maker and age.If you post detailed pictures of the lock, barrel, trigger (guard & mechanism);& the other...

    Whom Used a Frizzen Stall?

Stall leather shouldn't effect the frizzen- unless it is chemically tanned. Veg-tanned will not react but the salts left in chrome/chemical tannage can rust knives or frizzens.

New to smoothbore and what I like for a RB loading charge

My .62 Fusil de Chasse seems to work best w/ a wadded .60 RB. I'm still working up the best charge bthe ut am currently using 80 gr 2F & working at lowering it. Until I can cast some, those balls seem a bit hard to find and make long sessions a bit expensive. Surprisingly, it kept 8 rounds of...

Leaving the range even more confused (Load development)

Try red striped ticking. I just got some from JoAnn's which miked at twelve. Seems to be a bit thin for my .50 SMR w/ .480 RB. I need to go back to the old ticking.

    MINIMUM LOAD

Some time ago a post showed a small, low caliber, screw-barrel rifle, presumably for gathering bird’s for study or collections, w/out scattering the flock. It was suggested that Audubon used one similar. As I recall, it was about .25-.30 and the powder pocket only held 5-10 grains of BP...

    Fusil De Chasse Style Rifle

Beautiful rifle. In my biased opinion, you chose an excellent base for your rifle. I have a FdC and love it. It balances, carries & shoots effortlessly. As noted by a previous comment, it only misses being HC until the documentation is discovered. Shoot it with well deserved pride!

    Just One Gun

Back in my high school days, a friend and I were wandering around the back roads and small villages of northern Vt. We stopped at a country store for sodas and spotted an old Winchester, sticking out of a barrel in the corner. I forget how much it was, probably $10-15 or so, maybe less. What...

Penny For Your Thoughts? Pawn Shop Find.

That trigger might be used as a haggling point; unsafe if the trigger is set to a light touch. Probably correctable/adjustable. I agree that it’s several hundred $ high, especially for a pawn shop, around here at least. What is that inflated in the right of the buttstock, where a patch box...
