    10x10 Pyramid - Big Enough??

Dane - Did you go with a panther? Also, if you have a stove hole, where did you have it installed, side or back.

    knife throwing

Nice throwin' for sure. I noticed you step forward with your right foot and you're right handed. I'll have to try that, looks like it works really good. Great work and thanks for the video. -turtle-

    Red Hawk Trading??

Just curious if anybody has any of their tents and how do you like them. I saw their ad in Muzzleloader Mag and their prices seems pretty decent. Thanks. -turtle-

    10x10 Pyramid - Big Enough??

Good points and we actually put an 8' pole in the center to get a feel for how the slant of the walls will impact usable space. It's one of those deals where I want to buy it once but bigger than a 10x10 I have concerns about the weight of it. I guess maybe buy bigger to make sure you have...

    10x10 Pyramid - Big Enough??

You fellas that own 10x10 pyramids, are they big enough for say two skinners and little bit of gear? I'm leaning towards a Panther with the tipi door, fly and floor. This would be for myself and my 9 year old son but plan to use this for many years to come and I'm concerned about outgrowing it...

Very Nice indeed Morgan. Anything you'd change or do different if ya had to do it all over? With your lodge that is.... -turtle-

    Goex In Northern Colorado?

I believe the store in Windsor that's suppose to carry it is "B&B Sporting Goods". I stopped over there last week and the owner said he changed his mind about carrying black powder and black powder supplies. He said his insurance would go up along with a bunch of other stuff he didn't want to...

    Goex In Northern Colorado?

Hey Guys, Any idea where I can get a 2 lb can of Goex 2f along the front range without ordering a lifetime supply. I'm about out and can't find any dealers around. I would like to buy 1 maybe 2 cans. Thanks. -turtle-

    Flint and Steel Help Please

I'm thinking maybe my birds nest isn't quite right. For what it's worth I usually just use really dry grass and I can get my cloth to catch the grass on fire. This years grass is now as dry as I've seen it in a long time so I wonder if maybe my nest isn't the best. I usually just take a good...

    Flint and Steel Help Please

OK buckskinners, I'm in a slump and need your help please. For some reason this summer I am having a heck of a time getting my chared cloth to catch flame in my bird nest. I haven't had this problem in years past but I sure have it now. :surrender: All I'm getting now is smolder and smoke but...

    Hawk handles

Defiantely use hickory. I would suggest buying a handle from a hawk supplier (maybe even a couple extra for spares) and you'll be set. -turtle-

    Failed at Flint & Steel

My second attempt was a nest consisting of what dead grass I could find and dry pine needles from the base of trees. On this second try I even added char to the nest thinking I just needed more heat. Plenty of smoke.....just no fire. -turtle-

    Failed at Flint & Steel

At a Mountain Man Walk this past weekend I failed  at getting a fire started with flint and steel. We had to use material at hand for a birds nest and I tried to use what dry grass I could find (we've had a wet year for a change). After two tries of trying to get the lit char to burst...

    tipi or wall tent

One tip is don't cut live trees for tent or tipi poles or anything else for that matter. In Colorado it's against the law and the Forest Service will be on you and you'll probably be fined. If it's dead timber (either standing or fallen) you're fine but don't cut the live trees. I suggest...

    Trappers/Hunters Tent

You changed my mind. Thank you to everyone for all your help. Turns out I'm going with the wedge with a bell. And to think the only bell I ever wanted was the one ya hear for supper. Need to hone in on a size (input would be great) but going with a wedge. Couldn't have done it without all your...

That'll work...nice shootin'. Looks like a nice buck in your picture above. ML season will be here soon (but not soon enough if ya know what I mean). -Turtle-

Putting an edge on new tomahawk

Might be a little late here but definately stay away from the grinder as others have mentioned. Fellow buckskinner took a hand grinder to a real nice hawk and in a matter of about a minute ruined it. We joked that he could use it to maybe slice cheese. Hand file and then I like to finish with a...

    Trappers/Hunters Tent

I've been looking into Wedge tents now and doing research behind them. I'm seeing & reading about them for military situatioms but not finding much for the fur trade era. Would a wedge tent work for a fur trader persona because I sure don't see much on them other than military. -Turtle2-

    Trappers/Hunters Tent

Could you help me understand what a "bell back" is. Not sure as I've ever seen one. Also, with you guys that are in Wedge's....what weight canvas are your lodges? I'm doing what Birdman says.."think on yer decision twice and spend yer money once." -turtle2
