Back up. Still looking for these barrels.

I am looking for a few Thompson Center drop in barrels made by Green Mountain, in .36 and .40 caliber. Either 15/16" or 1" ATF will work and a preferred length from 28" to no more than 32". They must have a good bore. Thanks in advance.

Rice barrel company. Pecatonica. Muzzle loaders builders supply.

It is 1/4-28 for the large rifles and 12-28 for the smaller rifles. Get a bottom tap. They are generally easy to find at even some hardware stores such as Ace.

Do the Thompson Center "Round Ball Twist" barrels have the same shallow depth of the grooves as their standard barrels? Thanks in advance.

Pecatonica is a very good business to deal with. Call them and discuss what you would like to have.

I can't speak to the age as these rifles are not my area of experience. You will need to know the rifling twist rate for a start on determining whether it was built for round ball or some other type.

Make sure you have your best grouping from a specific powder charge, patch and bullet combination before you use the file. If it is still shooting high, you will need to file down the top of the rear sight just a little at the time.

If you don't have the skills or access to someone who does - send it back. You will never be happy and you can consider the shipping cost an experience.

The Vincent is a very comfortable rifle to shoot. Check out Pecatonica before you decide who to buy from. I would give more serious thought to the 36 for your intended use. Not sure of your background in building or the tools you may/may not have, but the Vincent will be some serious work...
