SOLD - Pending funds CVA Squirrel .32

Stock wood and finish? How is the metal finished? How did it do when you shot it? I like the weight how do you like the balance?

    Source of material

They are called binder clips. Helps to know the name when you are looking for them.

    How heavy is too heavy?

"How Heavy is Too Heavy" depends completely on context. If it is a day at the range there might not be such a thing as too heavy. But if you are following dogs all day it will matter quite a bit. Too heavy doesn't matter in a blind. Unless you have to walk a mile of mud flats to get to it...

    I felt this way before

Lots of history of what materials have worked for which purposes. Seems silly to contravene it. Felt is made by compressing fibers. At a guess, its durability will be a function of what fibers were compressed.

Looking for a Builder or Recommendations

I agree with the Kibler recommendations. But if you decide on a custom rifle I have two builders to highly recommend based on rifles they built for me. The Emigs at Cabin Creek Muzzleloading and Rick Baker who goes by Colonial Riflesmith. I don't know how far $2500 will go these days, but these...

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

Mexico in 1836 had no industrial base and no means to mass produce rifles. In 1836 a Bess was still a relatively modern and reliable weapon.

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

A rifle in 1760, as opposed to a musket, was an expensive custom built flintlock gun. Likely it would have been maintained and used until percussion rifles were coming into wide use.

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

Any effect of recoil will be largely related to a tendency to flinch.

    Training beagles...

First of all move. Get out of MA. Next find a buddy with trained working beagles. Hunting with his dogs will teach yours more than you ever could.

    Kids under 12 hunting.

My first, a .22, for Christmas at age 6. I understood the price of carelessness or stupidity was too steep. 71 years later and I have not yet screwed up with a firearm. Except for the easy targets I have missed.

    Walnut board

There are reasons manufacturers gravitated to walnut for unmentionables. Can't think of any factory guns that came stocked in maple. Very pleased with the appearance and performance of the maple on my two flinters.

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

I have no ambition to be somewhere where grizz is a problem. But if I had to, a bolt or lever gun chambered for a cartridge also considered suitable for elephant or rhino. Add a .454 revolver. Add a .22 mag derringer for suicide should the first choices fail. Seriously, I am a bird hunter. Not...

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

Stopping power is all about shot placement. A flesh wound with a .44 may not stop a 250 pound meth freak. A bullet through his knee joint will certainly hinder his mobility.

    Hummingbird

While you have a cleaner down to clean and refill they will be looking for it. In spring have had them looking for last year's feeders when we were tardy getting them set up.

    Another shipping war story….

I am happy with our local post office. But they can not deliver something that did not reach them. And when outgoing mail leaves there they have no further control.
