Santa Fe Hawken or Browning JBMR ?

Thanks much, do you think the .52 is closer to a .50 or .54 in performance on big game?

Santa Fe Hawken or Browning JBMR ?

True, not historically accurate but it has cool factor. Or it did until a min ago.

Santa Fe Hawken or Browning JBMR ?

Curious about what the general thoughts are on the Santa Fe Hawken in comparison to the Browning Mountain Rifle. I like the close to original look of both. The Santa Fe is a little more plain looking which is likely more “authentic” but its bore is actually .53 and not .54. This is something...

Remove Medallion ? -Browning Mtn Rifle

The Centennial Ed. of the Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle has a medallion imbedded in the stock and a metal medallion / bust of J. Browning attached to the lock. I don’t mind the stock medallion but not a fan of the one on the lock. Anyone seen one where the medallion on the lock has been...

    Pedersoli Brown Finish

On May 3rd this year Pedersoli replied to my email asking about the treatment on the Rocky Mtn barrels. They stated “ The browning of the barrels is the special Cerakote product“. Sounds like the hot blue/rust process has been discontinued.

Uberti Santa Fe Hawken has arrived.

I’d be interested in knowing how a .530 RB loads with a .010 patch. Thanks

    It’s not a group, it’s a string.

It’s not a group, it’s a string. Tried out the new California Sights today at 100 yards. They’re fixed sights and it took a bit to find a hold. Would like to drift the front sight right a bit but calc say less than a 32nd. Surprised such a small adjustment is needed. I’ll give it a try and then...

The Gun Shop Hawken Rifle #1& #2

Would like to know if anyone owns or has experience with the Hawken rifle that The Gun Shop sells. Looks like a build to order rifle, not off the shelf and all components are USA made with options for wood grade and LOP. I was leaning into getting a Pedersoli Rocky Mountain but now am looking...

    California sights ??

Resurrecting an old thread but there are some of these available on eBay from someone that bought the House of Muskets inventory. There are a few variations of the sight on eBay. He also said he’ll be setting up to mfg more. Here’s one...

Hawken Rifles, What's All The Hoopla?!

Not sure I understand correctly. The above photos are the Hawken original and right below is the Missouri State Rifle reproduction built by Bob Browner. To my eye the butt stocks are the same. I’m not clear on which reproduction you meant we’re not correct. The modern production guns, Pedersoli...

    WANTED T/C Hawken Tang-3 Hole 15/16” Barrel.

Hoping to find a Thompson Center 3 hole tang for a 15/16” barrel… that doesn’t cost one hundred dollars. There are several on eBay at 99.00, mostly in not so great condition. Anyone have one laying around gathering dust? Thank You -Sage1

    Thompson Center Bought from S&W

Give the Hawken Shop a call. They have “Conversion Furnishings-Hardware” that may be intended for TC. There’s also a couple of chemical products guys use to darken/age the brass. https://www.thehawkenshop.com/FURNISHINGS.htm

    Thompson Center Bought from S&W

Lotta criticism of the TC Hawken throughout this thread. And when it comes to them being non-historically accurate builds I get it. I’m looking for traditional Hawken too. But quality wise TC did something right, their guns are still around and still shooting straight. It’s a good rifle and...

    Pedersoli Rust Brown Barrel?

Correction: Rec’d an email today from Pedersoli’s offices in Italy. They stated the barrel treatment used is a special Cerakote process. I’d rather buy custom but if I was to buy a Rocky Mtn Hawken I’d redo the barrel, likely rust… adding cost to an already expensive rifle.
