    Non-TRS lock castings?

I have always had good results from the Rifle Shoppe. I have always verified what I wanted was on the shelf and would ship at end of week ; )

    Shenandoah Valley Key Basket

This lovely key basket is fresh off the bench by my apprentice Jessie Rogers. This basket is based on an original southern Rockingham County or northern Augusta County, Virginia basket located in the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Jess has never viewed this particular basket in person so she...

    Woodsrunner CNC Incised Carving

Looking at it on a screen, without having it in hand and examining for whether it has machining tool marks or chisel trail I can quickly recognize that work to be Jim's.

    Woodsrunner CNC Incised Carving

Im familiar with his work up close and from every picture i see on thr net It looks to me exactly like Jim Kibler carved it by hand.

    Kibler Fowler available.

I study these things more than most and all I can say is many are missing out on a nice and correct barrel.

When Did the Shotgun Become a Shotgun

I think I have an 18th century American reference or two for "shot gun" but mostly termed fowling piece, birding piece or fowling gun.....never "fowler" which is the dude or dudette behind the gun.

    Vintage tool for working leather?

Meant to be pushed in by hand. Never seen anything like it associated with saddlery or harness. Looks like rounded teeth to me. Either for thin leather like glove making or ? Ill try to see if I can get a better answer.

    Kibler Fowler Update

I agree if one is attempting it to be representative of an American made gun. Looking to British import pieces is a better option if one is trying to finish it out as same. I would certainly use that resource if I were wanting to finish the kit off to represent a New York made gun with...

    Kibler Fowler Update

To my knowledge there is only one or two distant pictures of a British fowling piece in that Grinslade book. Most all are American made pieces. Jim's gun will be a representation of a typical British export trade gun ( made in England for export to America) as I understand it.

    Little Blunderbuss

Looks like a replacement based on the engraving and color of the alloy. The engraving on the gun is standard quick and workmanlike but the guard engraving is well below that level.

What gun for early 1700's Virginia.

As has been stated, economic factors of the individual planter would determine the firearm. A planter in the realm of the Byrd, Taliaferro, Randolph, etc. would be very unlikely to be using a trade gun as a personal arm. Also, the OP is asking what a planter could acquire in the early 18th...

What gun for early 1700's Virginia.

Most likely to order a fowling piece from a London maker.

    Bear Face Bag

Something a bit different from the normal work here at the shop. An ursine face bag for a friend. Gusseted bag with large interior pocket. The strap incorporates an old harness buckle used in Appomattox VA well over a century ago.

    Kibler side effect?

I would also add that he is probably one of the top five custom makers in the world these days and that alone will set him apart from others who might possess some of the business and technical skills aforementioned. Most people are oblivious to the fact they have a kit with the architecture of...

    Kibler side effect?

Doubtful. Jim has MANY skillsets others would have to outsource making it impossible due to cost and time issues.
