    Original Trade Gun/Fowler barrel profile?

Here are two identical Colerain barrels off their 42", 12 ga. Griffin Spanish barrel profile. One is stock and the other has had the muzzle relieved inside like many of the original guns were done. The Griffin profile is a pretty good option if one gets the maximum bore size for the outside...

    Original Trade Gun/Fowler barrel profile?

Mike, These are really nice barrels. If I remember correctly a customer drew up the measurements from a picture of a Dolep gun. The Rice barrel has super nice lines for a trade type gun and is very light but in my opinion needs a much bigger breech for replicating a Dolep style sporting gun.

    Kibler order

The bigger the caliber, the lighter the rifle. Same O/D. I would be looking at a .54 in Woodsrunner and a .58 in the Colonial. If I'm not mistaken, there is more done to completion on the Woodsrunner due to the machine ans programs in which its being run on. If that makes a difference for you...

    Buff Leather

I did hear talk a couple of years ago that there was a small tannery out west that was producing some in small amounts but I can't come up with the information I once had on it.

    Unboxing disappointment

If it is supposed to be a new gun, it has been messed with and the seller knows it. Its like paying full price for a new pickup that's been keyed down both sides

    James Rogers new website

Thank you for listing the link. This website although still in construction has been a long time coming. I have to give all credit to my daughter who is apprentice to me. She is a teacher and is using her summer breaks to learn from me. I'm learning a few things from her as far as organization : )

    Bent stock

My bet is the stock warped that way after major wood removal and has been there since....especially if its a right handed gun and the stock is bent to the left as if standing behind the gun as that is cast-on.

    Formby’s tung oil substitutes?

Formby's is not a real tung oil IIRC. Dave Person uses and recommends Sutherland Welles tung oil. You could also go with a linseed varnish by Tried and True.

    Nitric Acid Stain

Jim was a neighbor and one of my closest friends since I was a young teen. I have several rifles he built for me. If we weren't planning to see each other during the day we usually talked by phone about 8am which was usually about half a days work done by then ; )

That work was by my friend and mentor Jim Hash. The wood is an exceptional piece of sugar maple.
