Hey guys, I wanted to get your thoughts on this Pedersoli Indian Trade gun I just got delivered from a well known retailer. This is my first pedersoli, so maybe this is normal?? Most of the pins are blown out and the ramrod has no tension, it just falls out.

Should I keep it? I sent them photos and they are reviewing it now, but for close to 1300 dollars I’m disappointed.

QC must be employing a blind man.
if they will take it back for close to 1300$ i would send it back.
I have 10 thumbs and can do better than that.
I bought a Pedersoli Kentucky flinter just out of the lockdown. I kept it but there were some issues that more than irritated me. Pedersoli better take heed and do some improvements or they may be out of a job.

Disappointing for sure, I don't have Pedersoli but have several on my wish list that I eventually hope to get too. I hope they get it taken care of for you.

It looks like somebody somewhere between Italy and your door has had the barrel out. That damage wouldn't have been done by just assembling the gun one time.
Yes I agree, looks a little rough for 1300. If it were mine, I’d ask for a partial refund and keep it, you can put beeswax in the holes and bend the ramrod slightly by heating it. That’s just me though, I totally understand how it feels to get burnt and how it tends to stick with you every time you look at your gun hanging on the wall.

I would agree that somebody probably took it apart and reassembled it carelessly. That may not affect its function, but it’s up to you whether the cosmetic issue is acceptable or not.

If it were mine, I would make a new, tapered ramrod that fits the pipes, although a slight bend (as suggested by @waksupi ) would be adequate for keeping the original rod in place. The rod will straighten out in the bore of your gun while ramming, and the bend won’t hurt anything.

I would send it back, if you can get a refund, and then contact @Rob M. about building an authentic one with a better quality, tuned lock for about a third more. Worth every penny. Many people are happy with Pedersoli flintlocks out of the box, but my own experience with a Pedersoli flintlock was not so great. The problems with the lock are fixable, but will require some time and money.

My opinions, for what they are worth.
