Yes acetone will remove ca glue but it takes longer (soaking) than de-bonder. Removal of the ca glue with de-bonder is a slow process but works better just my opinion, Have done this many times in my remote control years.
Hobby shops that sell remote control airplane kits carry a product called ca de-bonder it will soften and remove ca. seems fairly safe for all sufaces.
If and when flintlock muzzle loading rifles and hand guns rule again, do not worry, there will not be enough people left to worry about having to use it on.
There is still some information being left off the table before any good suggestions can be made. What caliber, cap or flint, round ball or mini, type lube, patch size, yardage being shot, group size, off hand or bench.
I use a .510 diameter by approximately 1/2 inch in length fiber wads over powder, not lubed. They seat straight every time no problem. I lube the patch for the ball.
I only shoot round ball.
Unless you are in a very big rush, contact at least 4 competent gunsmiths in your area and ask of their opinion on the issue, before you make a final decision, you may be surprised at what you find out.
