How many shots can you get?

Veteran arms sells 5 for $11 which is roughly the same. I think if you buy several flints it is just one payment of 7.50 shipping. Better take up knapping

PC way to cut down smoothbore fouling.

Where do you pick up your tow from? Also that woods walk sounds like a lot of fun, wish we had something similar in FL, but I don't think there are any revolutionary reenactor groups/events in the state as we weren't part of the colonies back then haha.

    I'll try that thanks.

PC way to cut down smoothbore fouling.

Hi there. I've been experimenting with smooth bore paper cartridges and after a couple of shots its starts getting pretty fouled up. I know this is just the reality of muskets back then, but I was wondering was there something the military did to reduce the fouling while loading from a paper...

    First flintlock, tons of questions

How do you loosen the frizzen spring easily?

    Muzzleloading's Impact on Health

I'll take a whack at this, not a doctor and actually quite new to ML hobby. 1) I have incredibly sensitive hearing, and I wear your standard ear gummies with headphones on over them. 5.56 rifles make my ears ring still. I fire my blunderbuss and have fired a long rifle with only ear gummies...

Trying to make a Flintlock Rifle decision

If you are going for American Revolution, American long rifles were military rifles haha. I dunno if that helps your decision any, but I've been thinking about getting some militia garb to go with my Kibler Colonial when I get it.

    Tips for aiming and accuracy

Holy crap that is genius! I might try that on my blunderbuss.

    The heavier my load....

Before you keep going higher in the grains perhaps switch the ball and patch combo? 100 grains seems like an incredibly hungry load for a .54. Might be more economical to find another path in the long run.

    Frizzen not opening

    Oil the spring and frizzen?

    Another Stupid Human Trick.....

I've noticed talking and loading is a big issue with rifles haha. I haven't had an issue loading smooth bore with cartridge, but I almost double loaded a rifle while telling someone a story. Wonder if anyone has launched their ram rod 🤔

Of what style is a Kibler Colonial Rifle?

Its a Kibler, he doesn't really list what kind is on his site, though I've seen people refer to it as red or sugar.

Of what style is a Kibler Colonial Rifle?

Is Ferric nitrate the same as Iron Nitrate? I'm just repeating what I was told. I would love to get that stump picture color. I'll talk to my builder if its possible with traditional means. Also I have "Fancy Maple" which I'm not sure is Sugar maple. I was told you get what you get with color.

    First flintlock advice needed

Hm, I just ordered a .54 colonial. The site still says about 2-3 weeks. Damn, my builder said he wouldn't be able to get to it until summer. 😒

    Negotiation Time

Reminds me of my 10 year old nephew when I showed him a picture of the new blunderbuss I bought. He looked at me and said "Why do you need that?" I just said "I don't need it, I WANT it" I will never understand having a partner that doesn't want you to enjoy your life to the fullest even if...

    Rust Removal

Replace days with hours. Get a brush and work it for a few minutes every hour or so and it will be done in an evening.

Second Finish On My First Flintlock

I mean everyone's taste is different, I think his gun looked amazing before (I'm a huge fan of light wood finish)

    First flintlock advice needed

OP specifically said not a beginner gun. I even recommended a Veteran arms $600 gun as a beginner gun, but if OP requested it, we're recommending some 2k guns.
