    Simple question…..

Don't know, been shooting flintlocks since 1977, never saw the need to use a percussion...Dry powder won't burn. so it's best to keep it dry...

How do you measure the bore in a rifle?

Land to land, I'd leave the muzzle alone until you see if it is cutting patches...Once you determine the bore and have a mold, load a ball with a strip of ticking about 12 inches long and then pull it out...Look at the ticking and see if it is cut...

I think we tend to look at what we like today vs what was used back in the day...Barrels from 40-48 inches were the "norm" back then..Of course we know Jaegers were made shorter in the Old Country but we think that was...

    Hershel House Passed Tonight

Hated to hear about that...I guess I first read about him in Foxfire 5 and later purchased his DVD and instructional booklet on building a flintlock when I built my first in 1988..

    T/C 1000+ Replacement?

I use SnoSeal for patches, a few drops of a good gun oil for protecting the barrel..The saying about petroleum creating a tar like substance in your barrel was invented by the companies peddling their product...Until these products came out it was a non issue...

    Silly question about powder charges

Historically, grains of wheat were used as a measurement of weight, we have continued, with modifications to use the unit today... There are 437.5 grains in an ounce...There are 7,000 grains in a pound..
