Thank You. It's a great handling gun. I took to shooting flintlock when I got bored bagging birds with a modern double...but found it performed just as well as my Merkel. Ballistically a fowler is the equivalent of a breechloader, and I had a smokey blast wing shooting with it.

I went to a blackpowder shoot today and shot horribly because I forgot my wads. I will thus update my prior post, and state that muzzleloading ballistics are indistinguishable from modern breech loading ballistics IF you use the right components.

I've done a lot of wing and clay shooting with flint fowlers and find the ballistic performance between a modern shotgun and muzzleloading shotgun to be indistinguishable. I don't feel handicapped in the least using a flintlock fowler for bird hunting. I've posted numerous photos on this site...
