    SPLIT THE BALL TARGET QUESTION

I have shot these many times over the years but have never set up the target. I am hosting a fall shoot and would like to do this target again. My question is what is a good distance for the two breakable (clay birds) to be from the base of the ax head? (See illustration) Thanks.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Picked up a new pistol my gun builder buddy did for me. 16 gauge smooth bore to match a earlier fowler he made. Small Siler lock, barrel is 13”. As soon as I got it home, I had to shoot it, of course. 25 grains fffg, .648 PRB, .010 linen patch at 20 yards from a rest produced this (first...

Pedersoli Harper's Ferry Pistol Wonky Lock Geometry.

For what it is worth, I got one of these years ago. And as you are learning, the lock is a mess. Secondly mine came as a .58 with, if I remember right, musket Minnie ball rifling. However this copy of a 1805 Harpers Ferry did resemble one of the most handsome pistol of the US. So, I scrapped...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

After 15 years decided to put up my 18+ foot tipi. It has been in storage in numerous locations all these years, including the poles which had become a bit of a hassle due to the 26' lengths. My late wife and I, along with the kids, traveled from NY state to Montana and Wyoming to attend a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Putting finishing touches on Annual Spring Simon Girty Shoot. 3 gun, rifle, pistol smoothbore, 16 targets in my woods. Hopefully weather will hold, supposed to be PC in the 60s. Trilliums are out and leaves are full, hopefully a good day to fill the woods with flint only smoke.

    Smith Carbines?

Back in the 1970s I had a Mike Yeck Smith carbine in the N-SSA. Loved it. Shot much better than me and was very well made. Sold it to buy a horse. Horse died. Stupid me.
