New double .50 cal. pistol from Pedersoli seen at Shot Show

This new pistol sounds great! The only thing that I worry about is the legality of a shotgun pistol.

    Patrick O'Brian

I've been working my way through the novels on tape for a few years now. I'm up to 17 or 18. They sure make the ride to and from work a lot less boring.

    Captain Jack's pistol

Thanks for clearing that up. In the posters they looked like two screw heads on the side.

    Quality of this mold?

I have a mould like this made by the Rapine Co. It does a good job for a few balls before it gets hot. Its handy for when you're sitting around the campfire with some time to kill. It impresses the heck out of the pilgrims at rendezvous.

    Captain Jack's pistol

Back to the original question. What ARE those two little round things on the side of the barrel? :hmm:

    Captain Jack's pistol

In the Pirates of the Carribean movies I noticed that Jack Sparrows pistol had two screws on the barrel opposite of the lock. What are these screws for? The pistol is supposed to be a real antique pistol, not a Hollywood creation.

    hatfield/mccoy guns

According to Hollywood, Sgt. York won his shooting match with a Muzzleloader. This apparently took place in the 1910's. Gobble-Gobble!

    muzzle coning

A friend of mine who has coned several rifles for himself and friends warns that it will take about 150-200 shots before the coned section of barrel feels smooth, this is normal. Usually the shooter will suddenly notice "Hey, this is much easier" after this point. Also the coning does not...

Bass Pro Shop has Black (Gold) Powder

There is NO place around me that sells black powder. Last year I asked my wife to pick me up a can of FFF in Reno, NV. It was something like $21.95 before tax! :shocked2: After that I buy at rendezvous for around $15 or from some friends who buy in bulk for $12 depending when I need it.

    holy cow what a gun

Captain Jack uses one in the opening scenes of POTCDMC to dispatch a raven and blow his way out of a floating casket. Pretty cool looking weapon. I wish I had the skills to build one myself. As far as reloading in combat, one of the reasons they had such a big handle was that when empty they...
