    James Burrows Double Barrel

Looks to be a great, unmolested piece. Inside of locks will be ‘best’ quality - Looks to have 4-screw bridles.

    Double key hawken

A Display rack of original Hawken Rifles from the HawkenClassic. There were others displayed as well. Only the bottom (32cal) was a single key.

Try snapping a cap before reloading/after wiping.

    Why Muzzle Down?

Because they use way too much oil… After a good cleaning, a thin film/coat is all one needs, if it runs - it’s not a tin coat.

    Not exactly for sale

Alexander Henry - Sporting/Target rifle. Stunning, inside and out. It barely meets the mfg date rule of this fourm…

    Express .50 double barrel question

I’m fortunate to own a few original doubles and I’ve seen a few CVA at the NMLRA Safari Double Rifle match, over the years, shoot quite well. But, the originals seem to take higher scores. Best to plan to experiment on paper…sometimes the hits tell you what needed to improve. Remember, there’s...

    Bill Large Plains Rifle

I wonder if the builder of the OP rifle with Bill Large barrel used an original lock from 1848 to build a Hawken? The iron mounting and trigger guard certainly look the Hawken part - as does the 1848 date. Love the rifle.

The last hawken I’ll ever have to buy! Roller, Weimer, England!

Rod is a good friend and an excellent builder… I’m envy.. Been trying to convince Rod to make the trek to the HawkenClassic - hope to see you there. Congratulations!

Good time to join the NMLRA!

I agree with the OP.. Good time to join the NMLRA, the oldest ML Organization in our country (1933) - established by shooters. They also host the oldest Rendezvous.. Many if not all subsequent groups have spun off as more ‘specific’ facets of Muzzleloading- the NMLRA seems to have it all...

    Up and Running

Not sure about the 1865 date - that seems to eliminates a lot of post CW Muzzleloaders from the Ohio Valley to the Mountains of the Appalachians.., Not to mention some fantastic British work. After all - they are Muzzleloaders.

    what capper?

These are made in Ohio.. Not sure where other reproductions are made.
  19. 52Bore

    what capper?

A very good reproduction I picked up at Friendship. I believe Lewis Drake sells reproductions as well. Originally, accoutrements makers supplied them to the British trade - by Hawksley, Dixon, etc..

    what capper?

The Best ones are spring loaded, either originals or quality reproductions. A little hard to find and a little costly- but your wife deserves the Best!
