    New Oldstock Goex pistol powder

I do the same thing with an old tin can of Goex. It makes it easier to pour into a horn than from the newer plastic cans.

Black Powder Banned at my Gun Club!

Unfortunately it's not a typo. The Dallas Gun Club actually has those prices posted on their site. There aren't any really good public ranges nearby either

Black Powder Banned at my Gun Club!

This new rule sucks and hopefully they'll come to their senses and remove it. At least you have a club you can shoot at. The only club near me has a whopping $10,000 initiation fee and a $195 monthly fee to join.

    Trying a new product

The figure on that maple might be some of the prettiest I've ever seen

Black Powder Banned at my Gun Club!

Why would they have a flammable material that only covers 10 feet directly in front of the firing line? Seems like really dumb design to me.

    Pietta 1860 colt army

I've personally found that loading with a lubed wad over the powder helps keep the fouling down in my 36 and I can shoot almost all day without cleaning the barrel or any drop in accuracy. Of course load how you want and find what works for you. Best advice I can give is to make sure you use...

Got me a new shootin' iron

That is a mighty fine looking shotgun. I have the Dixie Gun Works version of this in 12 ga percussion and really like it so far. Like you, my triggers were abysmal and required careful filing to get them to be acceptable. That was sad to see on such an expensive gun, but after fixing them it's...

    Don't avoid new Uberti sixguns

I couldn't agree more, I love the look of oiled walnut. What did you use to strip the Italian varnish off? I've been thinking of refinishing mine as well

Welcome from Dallas. I hope your range selection down there is better than up here

    My Kibler SMR Build Log

Please take at least a little advice from the people trying to help and round off the heads of those pins. You're only going to cause more damage to your expensive kit by being impatient and not rounding them off even if they're not the final pins you end up using. Chuck them up in a drill and...

    Educate me on Petersoli please

Midway has that listed (out of stock) for a whopping $2000. For that price I would much rather get a Kibler kit like the woodsrunner and build the rifle myself. I have several Pedersoli's and a Kibler SMR and everything about my SMR is nicer than any of my Pedersoli's. Pedersoli does make a...

    .36 rifle accuracy at distance

It's probably just me, but I can't seem to hit anything at 100 yards with my SMR in 36 cal. At 50 yards I can do one ragged hole, but last time I went out to 100 it was 8-10"

    Pedersoli 1859 Sharps rifle bullet

I just placed an order from them earlier today. The discount only shows up during checkout for me so it might be worth checking again.

    Pedersoli 1859 Sharps rifle bullet

I haven't had very good luck with the CCI four wing caps in my Springfield 1861 and that has a much simpler flash channel than a Sharps. Graf's and sons has Schuetzen caps available right now and they're doing free shipping with no hazmat fee. I've heard Schuetzen caps are better so I'd...

My son did some more work on my 1851

Wow I really need to strip the plasticky varnish off of mine and refinish it, that looks so much better.

    Pedersoli 1859 Sharps rifle bullet

I'm not sure why you wouldn't leverage the experience on this forum, most people I've found are friendly and very happy to offer up their knowledge. I wouldn't exactly say you were "pressing" anyone for information with you post so I'm not sure what the "problem" is. Either way it looks like you...

Did you ever get to check out that Dallas black powder club? I've been looking for people to shoot with in this area but haven't had any luck yet.

I recommend Birchwood Casey's choke tube lube for a nipple antisieze. I've used it for years and it's worked great.
