Johnson's Paste Wax when I plan to take a wood stock out into wet weather.

    DOES IT EVER GET CLEAN?

In answer to the OP, no, it never really gets clean. Cleanliness is a relative term and no matter how clean you get it, it could always be cleaner. Also, just about any bore "protectant", even Bore Butter, continues to loosen up more crud while the gun is in the rack, so the next time you pick...

    Cleaning

I guess I can't come up with any reason it wouldn't work. The thing I puzzle over is why people obsess over cleaning in the field or the range. I just wait until I get home, then get the bucket of hot water and Murphy's Oil Soap out. If I ever plan to be out for a few days at a time, maybe...

    Filling Pin Holes

I'm a big fan of JB Weld, but I'm not certain it would work if you have to drill and tap it.

Your Fav. Vegetable Oil for Making Lubes

Have used peanut, olive, coconut and aerosol sprays. Noticed no difference.

SOLD Pierced Tin Lantern -- SOLD!

These things look silly, but they certainly do work just fine... and they don't generally blow out in the wind at night.

Yeah, unless you win the lottery or find an inflation hedge, we'll all be doing less shooting I suspect...

    What Say Ye!

I don't often find myself in disagreement with TDM as he is a very wise man, but I do in this case. The problem is that you only know what you were told the gun is loaded with, you didn't load it yourself, so you don't really know. When you trust someone with this kind of question, you may...

    musket caps available

Well, this is the wrong forum, but they can be reloaded. Oh, I see you are in the UK... reloading is probably illegal there. It was a common cartridge in the WWII era English lend-lease revolvers, loaded with 200 grain projectiles. These were also known as .38/200 cartridges. Can you find...

    musket caps available

Found some in Wisconsin at Fleet Farm... first time I have ever seen them there. Plenty of #11 caps there as well. Shortages never last forever... though it has been some time since I last saw factory .38 S&W unmentionables for sale.

    Help getting started in muzzleloading

I've never shot a BB and don't own one. That said, I do own a T/C Renegade flintlock and have shot it both with leather and lead ("forged" bullet). Honestly, I haven't noticed any difference between the lead and the leather. YMMV. I agree that loads in the seventy grain level or so are...

    Chemicals vs tadpoles

Well, rain-barrel water is technically distilled water, well water, tap water, creek water, etc. certainly has minerals in it... may have acid or other chemicals in it. Sorta makes a certain amount of sense. Back in the day, there were some photographers (think wet darkrooms here, not...

Oh, the heartbreak! Imagine the disappointment...

Used to work at APO 09165 in Hanau, West Germany. We always figured that if the box arrived intact, it was pretty much indestructible.

    New quick loads

The days when I worried about reloading speed went away when I started with muzzleloaders. One shot should be enough to kill a deer and my usual range targets normally wait patiently while I reload. If speed is a concern for some reason, I take a repeater.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

They sure can! Not sure what variety you have up in Alaska, but some of the ones we have here have pretty bad attitudes and they can fly faster than you can run.

    T/C .32 Cherokee

Depends heavily upon condition. Without even a single picture to look at, nobody is going to be able to give you much useful information. An analogy might be: "I got a 1956 Buick Roadmaster for sale. How much is it worth?" They haven't made a 1956 Roadmaster since... well, 1956, so the Blue...

    Uberti .31 1849 Pocket Power

I had this happen to me with an 1860 .44. Fairly light charge, but it hit a piece of hardwood and bounced back to hit the first joint of my firing hand's thumb. I cussed a bit, but then thought about what would have happened if the ball had missed my thumb and hit me in the eye.

    Ok folks

I generally start shooting a new handgun at 7 yards.... so 21 feet. Unless it is a hunting pistol, you will generally not engage targets further than that with a handgun... and most handguns (with most shooters) will not group that well at any range beyond that anyway. Most inexpensive...
