I also have a traditions lock. Turn the flint over and use thicker leather around Flint. You will need to punch he in middle of leather so it will set back against screw. That's what I did.
I have a
L&R RPL lock on a cva mountain rifle rpl #01 and it hasn't let me down yet. Doing a Traditions Kentucky build and thinking of putting one on it. I do see the cost has gone up since I bought the first one.
Recovered round ball today while processing deer I shot Wed. She was shot facing me at about 40 yds recovered ball under skin back hindquarter. Darn near good enough to shoot again.
Didn't get a picture due to weather but did get a nice doe with my cva mountain rifle that I converted to flint. Hunting the Missouri alternative weapons season is a little harder unless you have access to good food sources.
Working on one of those myself. Had to deepen the rear of trigger inlet on mine and slightly widen and lengthen trigger guard inlet. There's alot to watch for. Good luck
Great deer, am now trying to put traditions Kentucky rifle together. You can try l&r lock with their rpl locks have one on cva mountain rifle was easy to fit used 3/4 flint.
So Traditions price is right on target. Bought a traditons kentucky kit yesterday for 408 shipped. My first muzzle loader was a cva .45 Kentucky. Bought it back in 1975.
