Babysitters fell through on opening day so we had to delay going to see it until later today. I haven't heard much negative about it.

I read the first issue last year I think. It's not bad but it's pricey for sure. Saw the one you are talking about the other day. It's definitely an upscale Backwoodsman.

I wish the old WGWD 93.3 was still around in it's old form. I use to love going up there for the late muzzleloader and sitting around a fire listening to that station. If you ever heard them play the Ballad of Grayton Jackson for the boys at the Hog-pen Camp, that was us.

Jackson County is close the Apalachicola NF. LOTS of good hunting there. There's several other good WMA's in the area too. If you feel like joining a club there's a metric crap load of them in all shapes, sizes, and prices in the area. Not as many hogs up that way compared to the big bend...

Sadly, there's not much beyond the Alafia event that I've found. There are some clubs that throw small events, and St. Augustine has various larger events too but some are more Pirate and 17th century themed than others. I wouldn't really refer to them as rendezvous.

No. And I didn't see the first one either. However I have seen the last 2 issues of the magazine where there are several pages of talk about modern 3 gun shoots and the like. :idunno:

Hunted deep in a Florida swamp where odd OLD Live Oaks still live. This old guy was MASSIVE... Saturday was stormy... Sunday was better... Saw lots of deer, and a few hogs that didn't give me any chance for a shot. It was a fun weekend.

Headed out tomorrow to try and bust some squirrels and hogs over the weekend.

Ah! I was close. I was gonna say somewhere on a creek in Green Swamp or Richloam.

Congrats! I've pretty much been skunked this year. I got two squirrels early on and that's it. The weather has been crappy for squirrels every chance I get to go. That creek looks real familiar. I can't place it for sure though.

I liked it well enough I gifted a copy to friend who is just getting started in the world of flintlocks. It is well worth the money.
