    Racked stock TC Hawking

Easy crack to fix. It is going to get worse if you shoot it. I see no point in not getting it fixed before shooting it. Safe? as in the barrel will not fly back into your face? I suppose so. Maybe some electrical tape if you are really stubborn about not fixing it,

    shorten, crown

Beautiful rifle. My suggestion is to just keep that barreli as it is. You can buy a 28" barrel that will drop right in from ebay if you look for a while. That is very close to the 27" you specified. Or get a barrel the length you want made from one of the suppliers. The interchangeable...

    Restoration suggestions

I do not know anything about restoration or about that gun. I like the gun. It certainly should have the stock decently glued back together. Clean the paint off without disturbing the patina below if possible. To me a project does not have to "pay for itself". I would be willing to drop...

    t/c hawkens twist rate

You can get .50 TC barrels on Ebay and sometimes drop in GM barrels from Track of the Wolf. Sometimes one for sale on this site. It is a long waiting game to find one at a good price right now. The used ones are sorta drying up, I think. The good news is the .50 is often the cheapest of the...

    TC Peep sight

Yeah. I did not want to cut a hole in my stock for a Lyman. I picked up the TC sight several years ago. Yes, it is crude to adjust. But...I do not change my sights very often. I set it on my hunting load. On paper I am more looking for groups than where the shots go so I probably will never...

    Really?

I have bought 2 barrels and a stock with the lock, etc. from eBay and was happy with the deal. But....it took lots of time waiting and I had to buy them at times I really did not want to. Sort of a long term shopping place.

What size caps for TC Hawken?

Thanks. Been 4 years since I have shot it. Saw some caps in the store the other day and figured I should get some. I did get the right size. Just checking.

What size caps for TC Hawken?

Do #11 caps work properly on a TC Hawken? Been a while since I have bought supplies or shot.

1,200 Yard .45 Cal Sidelock (Rice Barrels 1:17 Twist)

This thread would have been so much more pleasant if Mr De Land would have just started his own instructional program and left this thread alone. Who wants to hear all this over and over? You must have a insecurity problem anyway. So what if you know more than the OP.

1,200 Yard .45 Cal Sidelock (Rice Barrels 1:17 Twist)

Let me see....the OP hit the 20" square on his second shot at range at 1200 yards with iron sights and somebody wants me to believe the OP does not know anything about long range shooting?

Lyman GP 50 cal and RB diameter you use

Gee...I would shoot 2 rifles each. Whey shoot somebody elses gun?

    OUT OF SIGHT

Mark the front sight and tap it over. I would rather use a brass rod than a wood dowel. Or buy a sight pusher. You can actually work out how far it needs to go by the proportions of the sight radius to shooting distance if you want to. I would center the rear sight blade in the sight and...

    45 Caliber Maxi-Ball in a 50 Caliber Sabot?

Sounds like a perfect time to buy a .45 barrel for your TC Hawken. Or an entire .45 cal gun.

new shooter making rifle selection based on availability of commodity hi quality conical hollow base minnies

A .45 caliber TC Hawken precussion rifle will do exactly what you want and they are generally available used. As will a Lyman with the bullet barrel if you want a new rifle. You can find the scope mounts for a Hawken on E-bay sometimes. The hammer is in the way of the scope on a muzzleloader...

    Traditional percussion

Anybody could start a company that made muzzleloaders in the USA. Nobody is doing it now. Low number of prospects for sales. And the "everthing about the model should be different attitude". No chance, I think. Maybe some things are better available custom only. You can certainly get a...

    Interchangeable barrels?

I have barrels of .40 (green mountain drop in for balls), .45, and .50 for my TC Hawken. The Renegade uses a larger outside dimension barrel. Yes, 15/16" across the flats for the Hawken. I am thinking about getting a round ball .54 from Track but it is on a way back burner right now. I think...

T/C .50 Cal Hawken bore size

I have a couple of TC Hawkins. Did not even know that there was a warranty. Yes, my take is that S&W just decided not to honor the warranty. Locks used to be pretty available on eBay. Not so much now. I have heard of boring a .50 out to .54 so I doubt that .001 over is much of a problem...

Recommend 44 cap and ball revolver

For me it has to be a target model with the rear sight. I just can not shoot through the notch in the hammer.
