    WHY SHOOT REPRO GUNS

I have a friend that lives in the U.K. and he says that access to Brown Bess muskets aren't that much of a problem since there are still a lot of parts available. Here in the U.S. the cost of original and custom muzzleloaders can be prohibitive to most budgets. The best most of us can do is buy...

Looking for Wedge for Austin Halleck Mountain Rifle

Did you ever find out which wedge would work? I'm looking at getting an A&H rifle and would like to have a spare wedge. It's one of the earlier made rifles.

    Last of the Mohicans Rifle

Here are some pics of a "Killdeer" rifle made by Mr. Rooks. (Not Mine). You can see the differences between that rifle and mine especially the sideplate and if you look closely at the pic of DDL holding his rifle you might see the blue paint right next to the wood patchbox and the decorative...

    Last of the Mohicans Rifle

A few years back a friend of mine and forum member named Mike Oldarmy built a couple of rifles for me and one of them was a copy of the "Killdeer Rifle". I managed to get a copy of the pattern of "Killdeer" from Mike Rooks years ago and so Oldarmy built this rifle for me using this pattern. For...

    Upgraded my TC Hawken

I'm seriously considering doing the same thing to my TC Hawken or possibly buying a Lyman GPR and replacing the stock on that with a Pecatonica grade 4 maple stock. Did you have to remove a lot of wood to get everything to fit or is the stock pretty spot on?

    Rangers Musket

Thanks brudda, It's a beauty, but fortunately one if the other members made me a great deal on his so I'll be going that route. Beautiful carbine though, I'm sure somebody will snatch it up before long.

    Rangers Musket

I don't want to tick off Zonie with the whole India-made mess but since it does apply to the Roger's Ranger's carbine post here I really did like the looks of the 1748 Artillery Carbine offered by Veteran Arms which to me, seems to be the right dimensions for a more accurate presentation of what...

    Rangers Musket

Yeah, I'm starting to see that more and more. Still, even if it's just a myth in the end, the concept of an actual Roger's Rangers carbine is a pretty cool myth. I'm curious to see what any Ranger reenactors are using for their primary weapon especially since l heard that some are actually...

    Rangers Musket

Yeah, l kinda like the stuff they have at veteran arms and I'll probably buy from them since miroku guns are so hard to find.

    Rangers Musket

Well, it seems we're heading down that same old India vs whoever gun debate so I'll try to swerve this back to the original subject of this post. This version of the Sitting Fox carbine is a very nice carbine regardless of historical accuracy. The one he'll be releasing next will have the lock...

    Rangers Musket

Definitely something to consider, but with Sitting Fox's version of the Rogers's Ranger's carbine l know that the barrel is not an India make so l don't think any customer has to worry about a burst barrel. But that lock though.....
  17. F

    Rangers Musket

That's where I'm at with this carbine. Spend twice as much as buying TWO India muskets and still have to replace the lock. Yup, not worth it.

    Rangers Musket

I cant say I rubbish the India muskets entirely, honestly. Some of them look pretty good and I don't drink the kool-aid on their being nothing more than cheap pipe bombs. although I would have them tested at the dealer before it was shipped to me. That aside, it seems to me that their biggest...

    Rangers Musket

Yeah....crying shame. Well anyway, l just bought myself another flinter that l always wanted from another forum member so that'll be my consolation gift to myself for now.

    Rangers Musket

Lol, Yeah, that there is my concern and would be my greatest source of frustration. Friend of mine built me a beautiful Lancaster flinter years ago and try as l might, the dang thing just would not spark. It was an L&R lock and the problem was the frizzen needed to be hardened. Having to...
