    What is a Real Pioneer

well, under the definitions posted by Highpower, i am (or was until retirement) a pioneer according to item 3. I don't qualify under item 1. Althought i can claim a few modest successes, i don't qualify under 2. Hope i don't qualify under 4. Since i don't reenact, i can't say how i'd have...

How to clean out lead contaminated(?) cast iron

OK, here's the deal: I have a cast iron, round bottom pot, about 1 1/2 to 2 gallon size. When i first got it (new) cooked pinto beans in it, it didn't work too well for that. Was ok for stews, etc. Then, in a fit of brilliance i used it to melt some lead. Wheel weight i think. Made a...

Well, i've had multiple boxes, bags, containers, etc. Finally decided to try & get organized. Make a "blue Jean leg" bag for each gun/caliber, had someone stitch the info for each gun on each baft, as in "54 cal flint pistol". Now trying to get the boxes organized, reduced to a manageable...

    Picking a caliber .50 vs .54

I like meardean's way of thinking!!! I have both 50 & 54 cal rifles, shoot mostly the 54 flint because that was what i started with. 70gr ffg & round ball for target. Like am earlier response above, I also didn't know that 54 was "too big" for target work, and have a blue ribbon to prove...

    Mortimer purchased; Piggybank deceased...

When i was there (1978-1981) it was used for military training weekdays, and was available on weekends for private use, i think through the Rod & Gun club system. No idea what the status is now or who controls it. I think it had 100, 200 & 300 yard firing points, but it has been a long time and...
