    Issue with a flying flint

Congratulations on winning the flintlock. I have not tried this, but I believe that a flint can be rasped with a good quality rasp. Will not do harm to try, the flint isn't useful the way it is unless you can use a sufficiently thick leather. Wish you success.

    Issue with a flying flint

What lock? What kind and thickness of leather? How is the leather positioned in the jaws? What have you tried to remedy this?

+1 on dropping the barrel a bit, from what I see.

Five (or less) years from now, the buzzing sound at the front door will be the delivery drone.

    It just was not right!!

I've done that in the past; used pistol cartridge cases, but if you could find such a thing, I suspect that it might be a gaoling offense, if the constable were to note it. Still, a good solution you've worked.

Thank you Rich. The jaegers are lovely.

    American Jaeger

Lobo: I like the post and I like your jaeger; it has all of the necessary parts and, except for being left-handed, would meet my expectations for a hunting arm. I did not intend to disparage "fanciness" in longrifles. I do appreciate the workmanship in them.

    American Jaeger

Rich, I would like to know what real advantages were seen to be had with the "American Longrifle" vs the jaeger or similar shorter barreled rifles, other than, it is my understanding that the longrifle was typically of smaller caliber, saving on lead (weight of shot) and powder. I don't see an...

    American Jaeger

Interesting to consider, Rich. I like the Jaeger style; up here in the dense MN woods, it probably would be quite sensible and, considering my short stature... The muzzle of my early lancaster meets the tip of my nose; makes loading a bit of a chore for me. I think that if I would have...

    Hoppe's labeling change ???

Really not trying to be pedantic about this, AlanG, but when I question a product's authenticity and a retailer replies "You got the correct product." Why, because it is the item the retailer wishes to sell? "Tweaked the formula a bit." ? Was that so one product now does "everything" ? I...

    Hoppe's labeling change ???

Green Top Hunt Fish said, in an email response to me, today: "Sorry, no longer have patch lube, erroneous info on Amazon." That is sufficient information for me; "bore cleaner, to me, is water." I wanted their old patch lube, just as I have said.

    Hoppe's labeling change ???

Ordered Hoppe's 9 Plus from Amazon, as pictured and listed for sale. Order was filled by "Green Top Hunt Fish". Received Hoppe's BP Bore Cleaner". Complained; Green top apologized but said I received Hoppe's 999 and that was the correct item. I complained again and Green Top says "sorry, no...
