Pre cut is easy to center on my .54. So I just use pre cut. But my recently purchased .32 cal Crockett is painful with such a small patch. If pre cut too large, the groups open up. Plus you have to fold the patch around so the jag can push it in without the extra patch material up top getting...

I looked at cutting from above, but the channel and the bottom of the barrel is alot of wood. I don't want to weaken the stock. I have epoxied some sand paper to the end of a walmart cleaning rod. I'll insert it and use the spring to push on it and sand the bottom (hopefully)

The problem i feel is that its beating up the flint too much hitting at such a direct angle. Last night, I cut a hole in the leather and that helped bring it back but I think I still need to angle the leading edge down more.

Novice flinter here. My flint is hitting the frizzen I think too high up and I think the angle is wrong. Can I roll some lead and prop it up beneith it and in the back? Should I knapp a notch in the back to get the flint further back? Any suggestions?

Sicilian, Yes, original flint. I did not like the angle on it but I let it go just to see what it would do. Frizzen spring is pretty strong on this one which I read is typical. 20 shots per range session is fine with me as by that time I am ready to move on to another gun.
