    Cold Blue Solutions?

Well that's interesting. I picked up a bottle of Danglers Cold blue but haven't tried it yet. I assumed it worked just like your typical cold browning solution without having to boil in distilled water to get the bluing color. So your saying it doesn't get good adhesion and build up like a cold...

    Cold Blue Solutions?

Thanks for the replies. Fred, Are you applying 44/40 after browning the barrel first?

    Cold Blue Solutions?

Anyone try any of the cold blue solutions? Such as Danglers cold blue or formula 44/40. Not looking for the modern gun blue look. I'd like to see the results of how they turn out if any one has tried the stuff. Thanks

That's good to know. I was considering building a wheel lock for my next project. But definitely aint gonna wait a year for parts to show up.

    Which barrel

For accuracy, A rifle is only as good as its barrel. Rice's are one of the best but a bit pricey. There is a reason for that. Well worth the extra cost for what you get. If you want to build a very good rifle, don't skimp on the parts. Mainly the barrel and lock. (Just my 2 cents  )

    Ramrod tip

I'm sure there are many ways to do that. I use a small table saw and carefully roll it over the blade set just high enough to remove a little at a time until the tip slides on the rod. Otherwise, one would need to cut a line around the rod at the desired spot and then file away the excess. I...

    Narex Chisels

The swiss made Pfeil chisels at woodcraft are nice but ridiculously priced. ( as a matter of fact so is every thing else in that place) Unless you can afford stuff like that, it's cheaper just to keep a sharpening stone on the bench

    Incised line tool?

Making the tapered line along the bottom of the butt stock and also along the length of the forestock to the ramrod pipe.

    Incised line tool?

I figured there has to be a better idea other than dragging a hack saw blade down a scribed line. How do you do it?

    Incised line tool?

Anyone have a good idea on how to make incised line detail tools? I figure I can make something to use. Looking for ideas.

    Chambers Lancaster build thread

Yup, just started acouple myself. So far so good. The only gripe I got so far is the lock inlet could have been alittle more undersized as I wanted to move it alittle farther forward and a fuzz down in front.

    Swamp weights the same?

Just wondering if all the swamp weight class barrel dimentions are the same between manufacturers. Example: If I had a stock that was channeled out for a 42" "C" weight swamp barrel, Would barrel manufacturers like Rice, GM, Colrain in "C" weight all have the same dimentions so I could use...

Thank you for posting all that. I'll definately take a closer look at them.

With regard to Removing Breechplugs during the building process.

I guess this can be a major problem if you have a barrel with run out or has the dove tails already milled in.

With regard to Removing Breechplugs during the building process.

Also in that post there was a lot of concern by some for checking that the plug was properly installed as no one seems to trust the work of others. I get the safety concern but I wish someone would post in detail how this is done and just what exactly are you looking for to insure a properly...

    Issac Haines

Just an FYI. Double check you touch hole liner for size vs instructions. I was sent a 5/16" WL liner but the included instructions call for a drill and tap for a 3/8". You need a "I" size bit and a 5/16-32 Tap for a 5/16.
