    Favorite Gun

My current go to is a Dixie Tennessee Mountain in 50cal that I bought used in early 80's. Pretty much been shooting it exclusively for the last couple of years. Some say they are muzzle heavy but it fits and suits me fine. "Beware the man with one gun"

    fryed taters and ramps

Did a Google search here you go; RAMPS A member of the onion family, ramps, or wild leeks, have a pungent garlic-onion flavor. This vitamin C-rich allium inspires spring festivals in Appalachian states and sells out quickly at urban farmers’ markets.

Making Stainlees Steel Look Like Tin

Maybe some fine sandpaper to knock the shine down then use them and let them get dirty on the outside. Browning or blueing won't stick unless it has a low nickel percentage and then probably only in spots.

    D Guard Bowie

What time frame would they have been seen or used. I know they were in the south during the civil war but were they in the mountains during the early 1830's?

What Can I Do To My GPR?

I like this flat top style better than the semi buckhorn I had on it before the rebuild. I also back cut the front blade a bit and rounded just the top corner so all I see is the very tip almost like a post and ball sight.

What Can I Do To My GPR?

Here is my GPR after I refinished it last year. http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/280730/ I replaced the trigger set with the Davis Deerslayer after the pic's were taken. I may in the future get a TOW full stock for it.

    Slab Chair?

I have built 2 of those out of 2X12's they are heavy but surprisingly comfortable. One high back and one low back. I do pad the seat and back with a folded blanket if I am going to be sitting for a while.

Question about front sight on GPR?

I have used the Lyman "Hunting" front and rear sight set on my GPR, for me the front is very hard to see in low light situations. I took them off and went to a flat top rear and silver blade front.

    New pot.

Got one very similar to yours, found mine in a little roadside antique shop. I've boiled up several pots of potatoes over the camp fire.

    Percussion trigger malfunction

The best thing I did to my GPR is to toss the stock trigger assembly and install a Davis Deerslayer trigger assembly in it.

    where to find tow

You can get it from www.turkeyfootllc.com it is under the trekking tab, they sell it in 4oz bags. I bought 2 bags 2 years ago and have used maybe half of one bag, 4oz is more material than you think it would be.

    Is this "hawk" ok?

I have one but I use it as a camp tool only and keep it sharp for choping and have a separate hawk for throwing.

    Browning a barrel?

Depends on how you are doing the browning, if using Laurel Mountain Forge see the Sticky post at the top of this section. In my experience LMF takes the longest. With LMF you need to have the right humidity and time to achieve the best finish. Birchwood Casey is faster but some say it isn't as...

set trigger for Lyman Trade rifle.

Not a drop in for the Trade rifle but I just installed the Davis Deerslayer set trigger in my GPR vast improvement over the original trigger. You could probably inlet this trigger and a double trigger guard with just a little work.
