    Bean Pots

I'll bet that 75% of the bean pots I've seen in use over the years had a plate for a cover. Now I've got to find my grandmother's receipt for Indian meal pudding, also baked in a bean pot.

    Good Old Rhubarb!

You guys bring back memories...My grandmother made rhubarb sauce (just cooked it down with sugar added) and canned it. Used it often over hot biscuits like strawberry shortcake. Recall the time my aunt made a batch with only half the sugar, one spoonful and both ends of you would look the same.

    Cover of May-June, '17 Muzzleloader

I believe that you are most correct regarding this painting. I also believe that with the well earned national recognition earned by the artist David Wright and by reading the article about the model Michael Agee, both probably know more about their crafts than I.

    No particular "school" builds

Dave; You have boosted my faith in humanity and further convinced me of the generosity of folks on this site and in this hobby. I hope Daniel has the opportunity to take your offer. My thanks and admiration to you for passing your knowledge to others, this is what will keep this hobby alive.

    ?? Feibings question ??

Be very aware that no two pieces of wood (or leather) will dye the same color/tone due to base colors in the wood (leather). After drying the color will appear lighter and will go darker with finish applied, and often will shift in shade some. If I am looking for a particular color/shade, I use...

upholstery tacks and leather work diy

Check out the web site for Brettuns Village Trunk Shop and Brettuns Leather. Good folks to do business with and free shipping. They post a tutorial for "clinch nails", this is the same procedure for tacks.

    production year

Thompson Center's version of a rifle built around 1860 is perhaps what the seller meant, or should have said. Good looking rifle, shoot it.

Mine likes .490 with 18th. ticking (spit patch) and 55 grains FFF. 1 in 66 twist. Most of those guns are great shooters.

    Where to get blackpowder?

Yes, Maine Powder House has new owners. I met them last week at The Ancient Ones show, they seem to be real nice people and willing to talk business with folks like us.

    Blank question

Going thru this now with a "thin" stock. I crowded the barrel channel off center but still could get only mini cast off and a thin (9/32) lock panel. The folks at Track did some measuring for me and I've got an L&R Queen Ann lock coming that they say will fit. Just one more challenge. :hmm:

    Patch Knife?

I agree with the long bevel, mine is beveled on one blade face only. I was told that this would minimize muzzle scratches by having the flat face down. I cut right handed so that governs the bevel. :idunno:

    Building a workbench

I'm gathering materials to resurface my wood benchtop with the smooth white tempered Masonite used for tub surrounds. Makes seeing small screws etc. show up better and is easy to clean up. I should install a power actuator with a timer to tilt the bench top every 30 days. Perhaps after I had to...
